Soccer World Cup 2010

Congratulations to New Zealand and their newest national hero, Winston Reid! :=D:

I've seen some thrilling goals, and this one is right up there with them. ..|

if all players are that hot and immediately get rid of their shirts after a goal, i have absolutely no problem with more "all whites" goals ..|

WOW

Brazil was disppoiting, and what can we say about portugal....

Just watched the Brazil match. I agree Ekim, it was kind of disappointing.

Seems like something was "missing" from Brazil.

Oh yeah, what was missing was Ronaldinho! #-o

So much excitement for tomorrow's games!!

I'm really looking forward to see Chile in action, they performed terribly well during the qualifiers, and they have a very capable coach, the Argentine Bielsa. Chile is the big favorite against Honduras.

Then we have Spain playing. Many people agree that Spain is one of the favorites to the World Cup this time. Even though I have to say that they always say the same about Spain and every time it's a disappointment. Let's see if it works in this one.

And last but not least, we have South Africa vs Uruguay. Second round of matches starting, in a very even group (everyone drew), no team can lose this time cos that could mean a very likely elimination in this first round. The locals will be playing my beloved Uruguay. Probably SA will be the favorite for being the host, but Uruguay has always been famous for spoiling host's parties... Besides, Uruguay has played much better as a visitor than as a host during the qualifiers. Anyway, I think it's impossible to forecast a result for this match, and it's also impossible to forecast which 2 teams will go through and which 2 will go home in this which I consider to be the tightest group of all.

Let the fun continue!!
Viva The World Cup!

I almost always root for the underdog, with a few exceptions... I always root for Spain and USA (also Arsenal and València :D)

So in Wednesday's matches I'll be rooting for Honduras, South Africa and Spain.

I'll make some predictions this time:

Honduras 1 - 2 Chile

Spain 3 - 0 Switzerland

South Africa 1 - 2 Uruguay

Caveat: I am notoriously bad at predictions. So bad, in fact, that the final scores will probably be anything but what I predict.

My predictions

Honduras 0- 1 Chile

Spain 2 - 1 Switzerland

South Africa 1 - 1 Uruguay

^ doubt that spain will get 2 goals :P

weird game .. many good shots from the spanish team. no goal. yet. 10 mins to go :D

also my vuvuzuela filter in VLC is working quite well ;)

so much for that. poor spaniards .. even the referee felt pity for them ;)

Someone in the neighbourhood bought a Vuvuzela. I can hear one outside, but it doesn't sound very satisfying yet, he's probably still trying to blow it.

what a surprise, wasn't expecting spain to lose that game, on the other hand, this is the 4th consecutive world cup game that switzerland does not allow a goal.

up next, uruguay vs south africa, if south africa is going to mvoe on to the next round this is the game they are going to win .

BAFANA BAFANA

I'm still a little in shock over Spain's loss today.

I recorded the match to watch after work. Now I'm thinking I don't wanna watch. :(

if you like the game watch it. despite everything it was a great match, and spain was strong! they had like a dozen shots, none went in though.

Thanks, Corny. (*8*)

I love soccer. And I love to watch Spain play... their beautiful skills, their natural teamwork, they way they control the match, their passes with laser precision, etc.

I think I'll do 20km on my bike and then watch the match while I study.

Well Uruguay = 3 South Africa = 0 in Pretoria tonight - Oh sometimes they call the city Tshwane these days.

They have France to play next. I am sure France will beat the shit out of the SA team, then we should not have to hear / or see them or their vuvuselas again.
(!) :=D:

VERY POOR SHOW AND BAD MANNERS
When it appeared that the SA team were going to lose, all the vuvus stopped playing and the fans walked out en-masse before the end of the game. Very poor hosting and also very poor sportmanship.
