Except tax credits don't create dependency. People are not going "life is good", then they apply for a tax credit cuz they feel like it. The tax credit they apply for and receive does not make them work less and earn less money, thus making them depend on it. That's not how shit works. Kids need to eat regardless of whether daddy gets a tax break. Come back when you have basic economics down, you sound like Ben complaining of the raising of the minimum wage.

I don't know what it means that most "births" are intentional. Women who get pregnant unintentionally don't always have the means or the education, or the opportunity to abort unwanted pregnancies and the usual suspects in this country have done their best - and are succeeding in forcing them to have children they didn't plan and don't want.

By that (most births are intentional) I mean that the majority of full term live births are indeed intentional. At the same same time most conceptions are a bi-product of sex. They are not planned, so two people having sex and the woman giving birth have little if anything to do with tax credits, it has much to do with nature.

Lets be clear about this. The earned income tax credits are welfare/charity pure and simple. The government takes money from some under threat of punishment and gives it to others. It is why the top 40% pay 106% of the income tax. That extra 6% doesn't go to the treasury.

because it was politically realistic. real tax reform is all but dead right now. i urge people to avoid taxes any way they can.

There used to be a term "War of Poverty" in this country. It gave way to "War on Drugs", basically a war on the Black and poor. Also, the wars on Afghanistan and Iraq. With this Republican Congress, we are experiencing a "War on America." How so, we ask? 99% of Americans are excluded from the political system. Any legislation or confirmations or whatever else Congress is supposed to do on behalf of "We, the People" goes to support the interests of less than 1% of the population who put these useless fucks in office, and will spend anything to keep them there. Unless, or course, they talk about poverty, homelessness, the (still) uninsured, immigrants who work their asses off and want to contribute...the list goes on, and on. Children don't experience poverty independently. They almost always have poor parents; poor families. Poor relations and poor generations. The Conservatives hate abortion, love capital punishment, abhor public education and food stamps, want to put anybody in possession of "controlled substances" in jail (think millions of 'Daddies') and have no patience with child poverty. Oh, no, they don't create it...they personally don't fuck every teenage girl in America (probably not through any fault of their own)....but they are still creating and sustaining institutionalized poverty through greed, self interest and general ignorance of the human condition. Just sayin.....
