Here's an old time riddle my Teacher told me over 30 years ago. Some of you older members may remember it. See if you can solve it.

In marble walls as smooth as silk, within a crystal fountain clear,
a golden apple doth appear.

No doors are there to this stronghold, yet thieves break in and steal the gold.

I say we hire a couple of Wrangler to beat the shit out of this twisted old woman.....I have NO CLUE when it come to riddles. BUT, I 'll loved it when I hear the answer.

I suck at riddles. I also suck at anograms. But I can do a crossword, sometimes.

I had no clue what the answer was... so I googled it to find out. The riddle was featured in a story that I had found in DeviantArt.

Hmm. An egg. The riddle makes sense now... I think it was the hold "stronghold and thieves" part that threw me off.

i had to google it also. but google had a different version:

In marble walls as white as milk,
Lined with a skin as soft as silk,
Within a fountain crystal clear,
A golden apple doth appear.
No doors there are to this stronghold,
Yet thieves break in and steal the gold.

but can someone explain the lines? i understand "lined with skin as soft as silk" and the rest of it, but i don't understand the first line.

*Kojimon dances around like a ninny*

"Nah-nah! Look at me... I'm Andreus! I can solve smart-people riddles and call them easy! Neener-neener-neener!"

Hahah. I'm just kidding, Andreus. Some people are just good at riddles.

Good on ya for getting the correct answer.

And as Pegasus said, there is no such thing as an easy riddle. Originally, someone would have had to think a good while about this one before they came up with an answer.

I don,t get it? An EGG?? Does this have something to do with Stem Cell Research??? If so,,, I don,t get the YOLK!!

sigh...if anyone had read 'the hobbit' you'd have gotten that riddle right off the bat...its just another variation on the same thing;)

Did someone ask for a difficult riddle?

You are in a room with no doors, windows, or other openings of any kind. The walls, floor, and ceiling are too thick to knock down or tunnel through.

There is only a mirror and a bench in the room. How do you escape?

Er...throw a few sticks of dynamite in the corner? I suck at this.

an egg has a soft membrane that lines the shell

Think of words ending in -GRY. Angry and hungry are two of them. There are only three words in the English language. What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is
