I always wonder why actors win so much money. All these actors do is talk the way the director wants and show some emotions.Thats it.I dont understand why some actors should win 20 millions dollars for that. Its over the top.

The stunts men should win more money than actors.Because they risk their life for these actors. They make all these stunts.A lot of these stunts are very risky and hard to make. These stunts men dont even win half money that these actors win.

Its obvious that 20 millions is too much money only for an actor to show some emotions in a movie.Often movies takes 1 month or 2 month to shoot.Do you really think that only because an actor was shooting a movie for 1 or 2 months that its worth winning 20 millions?

When they made 2 Fast 2 Furious.Paul Walker was pissed off with Vin Diesel.Because Vin Diesel asked too much money. He wanted 20 millions for being in 2 Fast 2 Furious. They disagree with it.So Vin Diesel was not in 2 Fast 2 Furious. If Vin Diesel was not in 2 Fast 2 Furious. It was because of a money thing. Why Vin Diesel should win more money than Paul Walker and the other actors?

If Vin Diesel would had made this movie.2 Fast 2 Furious would had cost more money. It would had cost 20 millions more.

When the movie came out.I saw an interview on tv with Paul Walker. You could tell that Paul Walker was pissed off with Vin Diesel. Its obvious that they are not friends.

Its wrong when actors asked too much money to be in a movie. If a movie cost 50 millions to make.If 2 actors asked 20 millions to be in this movie. So it remain only 10 millions.Because most of the money was to pay these 2 actors. Its unfair for these directors who make these movies.

If an actor wants to be in a movie that he wants to make.If he dont have the money he wants. He will not make this movie. If this actor wants 20 millions dollars for this movie. They dont have the choice to give him the money he wants.Because if they dont give him 20 millions dollars. He will not make the movie.A lot of actors are like that.

Its not a problem if actors dont win 20 millions per movie. If they offer to these actors 5 millions per movie.5 millions is a lot of money. So why these actors absolutly wants 20 millions per movies?

These actors should be happy to be in these movies.A lot of actors would be happy to make movies.Even if they dont win a lot of money.Actors should not refuse to be in a movie because they dont win 20 millions dollars.

Most actors dont win 20 millions dollars per movie.A lot of actors win less than 5 millions and a lot of actors win less than 1 million.

Some actors ask too much money.20 millions per movie is too much only for being an actor. Its not worth it.

Why movies cost so much money? Its because some actors are to expensive.

Do you think that actors should win less than 5 millions per movie?

Do you think that actors should not ask to win 20 millions per movies?

Who are the most overpaid actors?

If they can negotiate the price, they're worth it. Fairness is a meaningless term. The actor is trying to get the most money he can for doing his job. The studio is trying to come up with a movie that will generate the most revenue. They have to calculate if paying those high priced stars will bring in enough additional revenue to justify the cost. If they think it will, they pay it.

David Beckham was paid about a bazillion dollars to come to LA. Of course he was hurt before he came, and he's even more hurt now. He hasn't played much at all. Was he overpaid? No. Advance ticket sales and merchandising recouped his entire contract amount before the first game was played. He could never step foot on a pitch again and all the involved parties would be happy -they made money. Of course if he can continue to play, the owners will make more money, but they're not crying even now.

Even if I thought you had a point, I wouldn't worry about it too much. With the advent of the Internet, digital video, and pretty good editing software, we're beginning to see the end of Hollywood as it's been known. People are starting to produce their own work, and some of it's damn high quality. They're doing it for the love of doing it. Some will make a living at it. Hollywood's revenues are not good, and fewer blockbuster movies are being produced. People have more options for entertainment, and they're tired of the theater scenario with limited viewing times and high prices. The $20Million star salaries are drying up.

Well where would the money go to otherwise? Towards the production company?

Many people go to see the films solely because a particular actor is in it. Therefore those actors should fairly receive a large amount of money.

I'm not saying the work they do is worth more than other people, but in the end, business is business.

And acting is not necessarily easy. There are a lot of bad actors out there, many of them make a lot of money anyway.

Celebrities earn too much money. Wow, I'm shocked.

*shrugs* The only one who acts well enough to earn the money is Johnny Depp. I don't even think he's that hot - I mean, he's quite cute, but it's all about his acting to me. He slips between characters with such outrageous ease. If I didn't already know, I wouldn't believe Willy Wonka, Ed Sands, and Jack Sparrow were played by the same person.

I agree about Depp. I always felt that way about Billy Bob Thornton in Sling Blade.

I think the writers are underpaid. The actors would not have movies to act in if it weren't for the writers. However, people go to see movies based on who is acting in it, and that's why actors can make so much money - people demand to see them. The quality of the actual movie is very much dependent on the quality of writing.

SOME ?!?!?

they are ALL overpaid...that goes for sports figures as well

How messed up as a country are we for the entertainers to be paid like they are but not be willing to pay teachers, police & firefighters a decent wage ???

they are all overpaid just my thought.

if the giant conglomerates that bought up all the studios are willing to pay those salaries, as their own CEO's are paid equally outrageous salaries, the cycle will never end.

tell me what does Cruise need $68,000,000 for - Scientology? You mean he cannot live on a salary of $20,000,000 a picture - if not then find someone who can - and also someone who can act as what he is doing is far from what is known as ACTING.

he does not know the front or back end of a theatre with a stage and scenery on it. a film with five minute takes is his take on acting. let him get on the stage and find out what real acting is all about.

tis the stage actors who are being cheated out of salaries they rightfully deserve - of course then can you imagine where theatre ticket prices would go??????????????????????????????????](*,)

my guess is Sir Ian McKellen is probably not being paid $1,000,000 to appear with the Royal Shakespeare Co. to appear in his current tour of King Lear and The Seagull. AND THIS IS AN ACTOR'S ACTOR.

ALL Actors are overpaid if they make more than the movie grosses. This is little understood, but it's not the direct salaries they demand that drives the cost of production up, but the percentages of the profits. A seriously successful movie can make a hundred million for an actor with a good percentage deal. It's obscene.

Most highly successful actors create their own productions once they hit the big time, and they always have percentage deals, and often waive the big bucks salaries in order to keep production costs lower. It makes them look good on the books, and still lines their pockets with loot.

Why do you think every open call in Hollywood has hundreds of wannabes waiting their turn to make it?

they are all overpaid just my thourht.

Acting is a profession that extends to more than the celebrities. The characters in adverts and suchlike are struggling for money. It's only actors who've had their 'big break' that get paid that much. But then, it's a market with a lot of money in it, so they can demand that. Scriptwriters can't, because they don't get the exposure. Therefore, they don't get the public wanting them, and thus the filmmakers can hire who they like, the public won't care.

They've just got to have their fix of some good looking guy doing a spectacular rendition of someone who can't act. (Johnny Depp is an exception, in particular)

Seriously.

Movies, television, music, sports...all of those are luxury parts of the economy; id est, they're simply superfluous to the survival of a community. And I know that there are some devotees/fanatics who say, "Music is my life!" but that's a statement that's obviously not true.

How does regurgitating scripted lines beneficially affect the audience? How does being able to outrun a couple people on a football field help the destitute? What about the people who are actually working for the betterment of humankind?

Bah...!

(Sorry for the rantage.)

Oh, and if you recall Angela Lansbury took a part in a production for something like $400/week. Why? She loves the theatre. And she can act, too.

Some are overpaid?
How about many are overpaid?.
Not just actors, but music people, and athletes. They're not only overpaid for their "gigs" but then you can factor in product endorsements.
As said above teachers, nurses, firemen & cops deserve more, they all save lives one way or another.
How about brain and heart surgeons, they make less than Brad or Tom?
Then there are the research scientists who struggle trying to find cures for diseases or ways to feed humanity.
There are also medical missionaries who live in squalor and disease ridden areas trying to help mankind.
The only thing remotely resembling equality is that with time celebs and athletes lose it. If they don't invest wisely while the sun is shining they can lose it all.
A good medical or educational mind is always revered even into old age.
