Some people just want to watch the world burn

No. A prank is a joke you play on friends. It's not an attack on a business that uses a pool as a promised amenity to its customers. It's not an attack that repeatedly shuts down a business's pool.

A prank isn't an attack on a resident whom one doesn't know as a friend, and even if they were to be acquainted, a prank doesn't destroy or harm a friend, which runing a pool and forcing it to be shut down and drained a refilled, normally a week long process.

Calling it a prank is simply obdurate. A child can see it is malevolent and malicious. Pranks are jokes. No one other than the miscreant would be laughing here.

The so-called "prankster" here is a 45 year old man who is a business owner and operator. There is no plausible case to suggest he doesn't think through vandalism. That defense wouldn't even hold up for an older teen. Not caring is the fault, not some vague inability to understand damage one is inflicting.

Found a more contemporary article, and to Kahaih's point, the headline referred to him as a "crazed" man. Truly bad journalism.

This article states he did it to multiple hotels. He's going to be paying a lot. Jail time could be up to five years, although that doesn't seem likely for a first offense.

But you can bet the FAA is gonna nail him to set the example, especially with him being a business owner.

Curiously, there is an article I found from 2012 that seems to focus on his mother and some lottery dream, but it is from Press of Atlantic City, a 3-day-a-week paper. In order to see the story, one must subscribe, which entails giving your email and phone number to the paper, who then sells it all over the place, so not worth it. The little I could scan of the article before the splash popup blocks you seemed to be covering the marriage of our suspect's parents in 1977. What is notable is that his father (if that is who is described) was a Coast Guard recruit. It seemed very likely our guy because his (the son's) age was given as 34 at the time, which would make him 45 now. It's also the same location, Galloway.

Voila! We have the dye connection. I doubt we'll hear his motivation whenever he pleads, as the news outlets are terrible about not following through with stories. Everyone jumps on the current splash, but the stories often sink into oblivion.

Blah, I’ve got better things to get worked up over.

He really sounds nuttier than squirrel shit.
