Well, for one thing, American Idiot certainly isn't "half-assed". It's pretty clear that a lot of time and effort went into it. That doesn't necessarily make it good, but I certainly don't think it's half-assed. Trust me - I've heard some REALLY half-assed albums before. :) And if Billie Joe's voice pisses you off, maybe you're simply not the target demo.

i disagree with that, man. gwen stefani's first album was better. i brought that and american idiot at the same day and gwen's shits on them.

this was a great tune from Green Day

well, looks like billie joe spent too much time there. i keep telling people not to fuck with that boulevard of broken dreams.

someone i know loved this song back when it was all over the tv and radio where he would sing it all the time whenever i saw him on the bus heading to or from college 8 years ago. sometime later, dude went berzerk where he had to be hospitalized. dude is now a schizo. dude was cool as hell too. always the quiet guy that did his thing that everyone left alone. he would sing madonna, gwen stefani, and listen to everything. as soon as he listened to that green day song, it was a wrap. i hope my brother isn't going nuts either. he too been fucking with that song as well and we still haven't seen that rat that he was talking about.

QED.

YIt's an issue for many... but one could look at the Rolling Stones and see how they stay popular and even make new fans as time goes on. The Stones have rebranded themselves a few times in their history. From one of the greatest albums produced "Exile on Mainstreet" to "Some Girls" and the more late era "Tattoo You"... they have taken a few detours in their careers but mostly kept their fans. Some Girls (1978) widely represents the time, and the darker "Undercover" album represents the tension within the group as well as the time period. And even as these guys age, they still get record crowds to their concerts. Their last tour smashed records, only surpassed by U2 I think (more recently).

Sure, but the Rolling Stones also put out their share of lesser albums, ranging from simply workman-like (Goats Head Soup, Steel Wheels, Bridges to Babylon) to flat-out awful (Still Life). And at least one of their "detours" was pretty misguided (Emotional Rescue). Their batting average is still excellent, mind you, and their missteps weren't enough to derail their core fanbase more than a bit. But I think they've had to chart the same waters as all long-lived rock bands - and they've fallen prey to many of the same pitfalls. Their stumbles just have been more modest than they could've been.

^It's his grandma.

Didn't like the concert give 20 minutes more to Usher and Rihanna or whatever the fuck she is called? I would be pissed too if I can't play my crappy music for another 20 minutes.
