Some racists are the nicest people you've ever met

I worked for an older couple who would sit on their couch watching Fox News while sputtering foul, racist comments. Whenever the laundry guy, a black man, came by to pick up their laundry they'd chat him up all super friendly like and give him a Snapple. I've seen this behavior other times as well. So, yeah.
Nevertheless, I find it difficult to believe your neighbors wife said that. It sounds like bad dialogue from a TV show

I think part of the reason for various UK Government bodies refusing to publicly admit the extent of immigrant offenders is because they are in thrall to the mainly Muslim populations in those areas and are reluctant to alienate them. This will, in the long term, be counter productive as it will inflame racism by tarring all Muslims with the same brush. Which, of course, is ridiculous.

Clearly. That and a reluctance to admit that historically there has been an element of deliberate tardiness in the investigation and prosecution of these crimes because of the risk of highlighting these racial and religious issues.

The Rotherham case I mentioned above lasted from 1997 to 2013 and the Director of Public Prosecutions between 2008 and 2013 was none other than Sir Kier Starmer. Pure coincidence of course.

I don't find it hard to believe at all. Most people when at home speak differently than they will in public. Families stab other family members in the back as well. Most folks are that way, it's the nature of the beast. It's a pipe dream to think that the day will come when people of one group will not speak unkindly of another.

Definitely belongs on the list of "Top 10 threads that explain why black members don't venture out of the porn sections." How this survived the mods is easily explained-- the lack of color extends all the way to the mod towers.

Gross, demonstrably inflammatory, callous display here.

For anyone to know whether or not your neighbor uttered racism would require us to know where you live and what the demographics of crime are in that area.

Street crime is typically committed by the lowest economic level of a society, and if you're area has been flooded with immigrants from Latin America, then there may indeed be a disproportionate Latino element in the data.

I lived in Albuquerque for a decade, and there is certainly not an anti-Latino or anti-Native bias there. If anything, it would be closer to a refuge city during all the perturbations that Arizona underwent with the illegal border crossings there. Car theft shot through the roof. Violent crimes increased and breakins became the norm.

As a result, I didn't see racism evident when I was there, even though minority (not a minority there) increased and was talked about everywhere.

Your neighbor would have been more convincing if she did more than ask. If there is an increase in Latino crime as a percentage of the whole, she may have only been revealing her bias about who is likely a criminal by profile, which is something quite different from racism.

JUB has its own history of bigotry, with members referring to heterosexuals as "breeders", accusing bisexuals of being "self-hating closeted" gays, equating GOP voting witth racists, and allowing anti-American cultural attacks while forbidding comments about the nationality of those attacking American culture. Bigotry sucks, but racism needs a little more than the discussion of race as a component of criminality. JUB is also a frequent source of depicting the right as foam-spitting rabid racists instead of the vast majority of voters who are in the center, and have no strong leanings, but have hot button issues like abortion, crime, sexualization of educational content, etc. Having a narrower view of society than those on the extremes just makes you nigh invisible in the media, and especially on JUB.

Just as some "activists" cite racial disparity in criminal statistics as "proof" of racism, many more cite the same data as proof of racial attitudes that follow poverty and culture to justify theft, drugs, and violence.
Bruh spit out a whole list of "bigotries" with white Americans as the victims. Diabolical.

This whole thread is mind-boggling :telstra:
Not really. The usual suspects are here repeating their thinly-veiled (shoutout to Rareboy for this beautiful expression) nonsense about "there are two sides to the story." The mods are indifferent (in some cases, worse than just indifferent). And the number of ethnic minorities that regularly post in HT remains countable on one hand with fingers leftover.

It's not unforseen, the black revolutionaries BEEN warned us about these mindgames and propaganda. My favorite is how they accuse voices of dissent against racism as being "the divisive ones."

This one goes down as hitting every shade of brown possible.

And to balance things up a child abuse ring in Scotland were all white. Including THREE women!

Hmmm I'm still not convinced. Bigots who scream their nonsense from the mountaintop don't speak with as much restraint as the more "well mannered" type. The fact that this woman doubled down on her accusatory racism by saying "was he Mexican? I bet he was Mexican" sounds a bit extreme, as if it were a way to highlight the topic of the thread. Also pertinent is the fact that the OP has been known to post threads with fabricated situations and stories in the past.

I could be wrong, but I still have doubts.

The issue of dishonesty is not my point here. It's the subject matter. If it is indeed a made-up situation intended to attract attention to its author, I find it somewhat heinous that racism was chosen as a topic.

Curious to know if you pass off the bf as a "roommate."

edit: with this couple

Mods. Can we have a sarcasm Like?
Judging from the laughing emoticon posted by some folks on serious commentary, I'd say we already do.

Oh, wait.

That's a sacastic like of a post, as opposed to a serious like of a sarcastic post.

Gee.
