Good news gays. The DA just filed charges for 3 felony theft and 1 felony criminal mischief. Seeking enhanced penalty. They put out a warrant for him. Thing is he is currently serving a 5 year sentence in another county.

Free education: Racism is antithetical to civility and they cannot coexist in the same space. You can have hateful barbarians or you can have ethnic minorities, not both. You've got 3 centuries of data and historical texts (and, thanks to their barbarism, voyeurism, perversion and arrogance, photos of things such as lynch picnics and human zoos) to decide which you'd like to keep. Throwing down the racist card is hitting the easy button, both for the neighbor and Dominus.

There is an elevated drug cartel problem using Indianapolis as a hub. It is a Mexican run syndicate. The associated increase in drug traffic crime is a legitimate concern for residents and it is associated with a minority running it.

Turning that into assumed hatred of Mexicans, with no context, other statements, or even rebuttal from Dominus, is a bigoted response of its own kind.

Assuming an ethos where race can never ever be associated with negative traits socially or culturally is just being a little too precious in a multicultural population.

If someone is upset by Arabs treating women as breeders or whores, I don't find that offensive. The two value systems are in conflict, and it's a bit difficult to separate it as a racial friction since the religion is embedded along racial lines.

Likewise, if someone dislikes retrograde culture among predominantly black and white fundamentalists in the U.S., I don't think the resentment is so much anti-black or anti-white as I do anti-retrograde, even though both groups of fundamentalists are largely overwhelmingly white or overwhelmingly black, with both sets of denominatitons being tightly bound in cultural values that align with rural cultures and race groups.

For a time, ubiquitous Japanese tourists were demonized in many countries, as they were just about as welcome as American tourists. Resentment against both wasn't racist, but circumstantial. Well-behaved tourists weren't hated except when in overwhelming numbers.

If our friendly neighbor in this story called Mexicans by a slur, or expressed a clear statement against intermarriage, or overbreeding in squalor, or some other animus, then I'd buy that it is somehow meaningful and injurious, but all we got was Dominus' supposition, which didn't even trigger a rebuttal from him. He clarified with her, but didn't accuse her of the same thought "crime" that he argues in this court. How hard was it to respond "Do you think that all Mexicans are criminals, or just that I was consorting with a Mexican criminal?" Or, "Harold, do you feel the same as she does?" Or, "Why would you say that? Do you hate Mexicans?"

When I was yet in Arkansas, my church and an all black congregation in town shared a study during Lent about race and how it played out in our local community. It was great to have such frank dialogue with the goal of greater understanding. The one thing that stood out in that learning was the statement that, "If you're not talking about race with someone of another race, you're part of the problem." I agree. And talking is an in-person thing, not hurling accusations in some social media.

If you write off your neighbors as hopeless without even trying to share your own view, or questioning theirs, you're simply evincing zero-sum social bias. Thatt's pretty much what the Nazis promoted.

I've personally seen the same litmus thinking MANY times from the left, and many times on JUB? You can have 99 things in common with someone, but then you ate meat, or you were pro-capital punishment, or were anti-electric cars, or anti-sexual reassignment surgery. Unless you're with us 100%, you're some kind of mole or hypocrite.

And the right does the same. MAGA is so chaotic that they can barely keep their forces together long enough to elect folks, because then they turn on thteir own.

Identity politics is a loser mentality. If you want to promote enlightenment, or progressive values, or suppress regressive ones, shunning isn't the way. Engagement. is.
