Also, seems to be not a lot of RPG games for consoles these days... Fallout 3, Elder Scrolls 4 or Dragon Age... any suggestions?

Well all of those are fantastic games. I have never played Oblivion, but I own Dragon Age and Fallout 3. Dragon Age is a lot of fun, the battle mechanics are a bit lacking, but the role playing elements (questing, party interactions) are really well done. The dialogue is also frequently very witty and enjoyable, and i found the most fun parts of this game were the times where i was in camp chatting with my party members. Also, you have the option to have Man-on-man love if you are inclined. Interesting story to boot.

Fallout 3 is awesome. Super expansive, tons of shit to do and see. Really fun battle system. I would say the story is sort of 2nd to all the other stuff you can do in the game, but it's pretty good for what it is.

OH, definitely DEFINITELY look into the Mass Effect series. Some of the best graphics on the system and great storylines and gameplay. Mass Effect 2 is easily my favorite game on the system, which says a lot being that I am a huge Japanese RPG fan at heart.

Hey lucky7,

All the games you mentioned are class act. Should also check out the Left4Dead games and Bioshock games (if you like multi-players both L4D games have it and Bioshock 2).

Gomaki was right about Fallout 3 for RPG games. Really amazing game. Oblivion's a good game but Fallout 3 is a lot better. I can't recommend any other RPG games I haven't played any.

As for HDMI cables. I'm not sure. To me, the cheap cables ranging for 10 quid upwards do the same thing as the expensive ones. My mate gave me a short HDMI cable (was about 50quid) when I first got my Xbox360 and to be honest I didn't notice any difference in the picture quality when I changed to using a cheap cable. Hope that helps a little and obviously there will be someone here that knows better than I do :)

Having to buy a ton of books for school delayed my chance of getting an xbox, but I'm heading to gamestop next week to buy one and maybe a few games.

I want to get an HDMI cable but one that is not expensive. Any recommendations or websites I should check out?

I would suggest to save money asking about a used one there at Gamestop. If you don't already have it, get the Edge card. The price you pay for it will be covered by the discounts on the system and games.

Also, I want to get into online first person shooters but I'm not too great at it. What's a good one to start out with? I'm think COD4 and then moving up to COD: MW2 or getting Halo 3 and then moving up to Halo Reach. Any recommendations on that?

Don't play those so I don't have any recommendations. But if you want to play online you'll need XBox Live Gold. I'd get the 12 month membership now, before the price goes up next month. Lock it in at the lower price while you can.

Fallout 3 is awesome. In fact the engine is much like that in Oblivion, which is another excellent game. I don't have experience with Dragon age though.

Thanks! I have an EDGE card but I'm sure it's expired.
They have the Xbox Live Gold at newegg for only $40 so I'll def buy that while the price is low.

Definitely. I hear its going from $50 to $60 most places.

Oblivion will own your soul, it's very addictive. On the HDMI cable front I'd say don't get one from the game store you get the 360 from. Official ones are highly inflated, so I'd suggest something like Amazon or play.

Another RPG to watch out for is Dragon age - there's a game of the year edition coming out very soon which has all of it's DLC.

Happy gaming :)

HDMI cables will cost you a pretty penny at any location. They cost something like 40 bucks.

As for games; I used to be into FPS alot, not so much anymore (it's gotten to be a very stale genre). Halo Reach is garbage (sorry fanboys). COD: MW2 is good. Both single player and online is nice. For RPGs: get Mass Effect definitely. Dragon age is amazing. I have the PC version but still will eat up alot of time. Another good RPG is Fable2. You could probably find it pretty cheap now at gamestop.

Ah, but Gamestop sells the generic brands as well as official Microsoft products. Not to mention you can sometimes find used ones.

Amazon has the best deals anywhere when it comes to HDMI cables, I got a lot of them for 26 cents and the shipping is like 2 dollars. So you're basically paying $2.26 for an HDMI cable.

or you can look at the list of all the cables some ranging from 15 feet.

I think Grand Theft Auto 4 has so many things you can do that its worth looking into. Online, there is car racing or shooting game modes. Free mode is great also.

But Grand Theft Auto 4 is not FPS.

I can't suggest a store since I don't live in the States, but keep an eye out for cheap 6' HDMI cables in the electronics sections of department stores. I got mine for $10 and have had no problems with it.

So I ordered an HDMI cable, GTA IV and Mass Effect from Amazon today :) should arrive middle of next week..and then I'll buy my xbox from Gamestop.

GTA IV will keep you busy for a while there's so much you can do. Plus with The Lost and Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony DLC it will keep you good for about two years. By that time GTA V should be out. I just finished Ballad of Gay Tony and already finished GTA IV to 100%.

Thanks. Now I can tell my partner there is a way he can help me slay zombies!

The OrangeBox (Half-Life) series is very good. Portal is an amusing and fun game, an interesting variation on the fps.

I used to run a Half-Life server (original version) on my servers at home. Just got Halo Reach, and it is looking pretty fine.

Haven't done much multi-player with it, so used to playing on the PC that I am still getting used to the Xbox360 Controllers.

Check out a website called geeks (can't post the link to the dot com yet) too. They have great prices on refurbished xbox units and accessories. I bought my Xbox360 Elite from there for a mear $199 bucks.

The new Halo Reach Xbox360 Elite is sweet. Friend of mine bought one...

Haven't seen them on it in a while, but worth checking out.

Bioshock and Bioshock2 are excellent games. Really looking forward to Bioshock 3.

The Fear series is good too. Will scare the crap out of you though.... lol

Happy Gamin!
