Does anyone know of any songs that were done for charity? I'm making a playlist for them on my ipod.

I just downloaded a song called "Sing" by Annie Lennox. It's to raise awareness of the HIV/AIDs crisis in Africa, especially through mother giving to daugher infection. The cover of the track on itunes says, "Several years ago I personally witnessed Nelson Mandela, standing in front of his prison cell on Robben Island, addressing the world's press. His message was that the pandemic of HIV/AIDs in Africa was in fact, a genocide. Since that time I resolved to do as much as I can to bring attention to the HIV/AIDs crisis." The song also features 22 other recording artists: Anastacia, Isobel Campbell, Dido, Céline Dion, Melissa Etheridge, Fergie, Beth Gibbons, Faith Hill, Angelique Kidjo, Beverley Knight, Gladys Knight, k.d. lang, Madonna, Sarah McLachlan, Beth Orton, Pink, Bonnie Raitt, Shakira, Shingai Shoniwa, Joss Stone, Sugababes, KT Tunstall, and Martha Wainwright.

Since this is the holiday season, I know that the ThirdWave Ska band No Doubt did a cover of the song "Oi To The World" It is a kick ass song, you should check it out, not really much of a holiday song, but some things are brought up.

Dixie Chicks - I Hope

It was dedicated to victims of Hurricane Katrina and sang at the Katrina benefit concert. All sales of the single were donated to Katrina relief. I don't think it was originally written with that specific cause in mind, but was later used to convey a sense of hope onto a dire situation.

One of the best, I think, was "Sun City" by Artists United Against Apartheid. It's amazing to think of Miles Davis, Bono, Run DMC and Joey Ramone all on the same track. Pop-up video so you can tell who they all are:

There is the song 'Lebo's River' by Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maide.
Another one I can think of is 'Never Too Far / Hero' by Mariah Carey
