And Coppola chopped the head off a buffalo, and Godard slit that pig's neck. But Cannibal Holocaust remains, for me, the best expression of slaughtering animals for art's sake.

I read that the burning cow was draped in asbestos, but that the horse that stumbled down the stairs was shot in the neck by Tarkovsky himself and its dispatch was a fact.
