come on now everyone has a song that finally told him he was OK

The night I came out this was the song they played at the end of the Beautiful Thing stage play I was at. Walked into that theatre closeted, walked out ummm out

No song really did anything for me. Which is odd, since I listen to music constantly.

This guy helped out, though.

wow have you ever seen Beautiful Thing.

so sweet it is

Well...I never really needed to be dragged out of the closet...I was only in the closet for maybe five minutes...that is how long it took me from the moment I realized I was gay to the moment I told my whole family...and I was done with it.

A couple songs that I related to coming out....

Hello Its Me...Tood Rundgren...the song reminds me of my 1st boyfriend

...and...David Bowie...Changes...I related it to being gay...

the day i walked into sam the record man and had the courage to bring the 45 single to the counter.

Styx - Mr. Roboto was my favourite song before coming out. "I've got a secret, I've been hiding under my skin" was a line that I particularly related to.

I love this song by Jeff Buckley. It's not about being gay, but the repeating lyric helped coax me into accepting who I am:

Diana Ross "I'm Coming Out"
Madonna "Live to Tell" and "Dear Jessie"
Weather Girls "Raining Men"
Dolly Parton "I Will Always Love You"
Mamma Cass Elloit "Dream A Little Dream of Me"
Erasure "Chains of Love" and "A little Respect"

mikey

No song for me. But a lot of those songs took on a new meaning AFTERWARDS.

Oh God, I had never heard of this film before today. That scene was so sweet, I went to Youtube and watched the whole thing just now. That was adorable. Ste and Jamie are the cutest. (Ste kind of reminded me of actor Josh Hutcherson...) And I loved the mother. Thank you for introducing me to this movie. :D

Oh this was basically how my parents knew I was gay, my first cd (BTW I still listen to it)...

Let's see.

"A New Day Has Come" by Celine.

"That Don't Impress Me Much" by Shania.

"Can't Get You Out of My Head" by Kylie.
