Liked a few Daft Punk songs over the years, but what really solidified me becoming a fan that made me become a full time listener, was this jam.

What about you?

Ariana Grande. I always thought that I'd never be the type of Gay guy who loves a female singer, but I heard this song, and that voice, my goodness.

Macabre. I saw this on YT's recommendation list, and the minute I heard, I fell in love with the band.

Black Flag. They introduced me to hardcore punk.

Chaka Khan and Rufus..and Chaka Khan....

I would smoke a little Thai Stick and put on my earphones.....felt like magic listening to her sweet voice....I was instantly in love with her back in the 70s...and I still am...

These songs did the trick....they weren't even the radio played songs...I listened to the whole album all the time...

...and this was the clincher...

...and then came this one with Ashford and Simpson & Quincy Jones which sealed the deal for me with Chaka as a solo artist....LOVED it...LOVED her...

Toward the start of my mental breakdown I heard Hate Me by Blue October. Because of a bet I lost years before that I still honor I checked out their other music. Calling You became my favorite song and Fear became my anthem.

Hate Me

Calling You

Fear

Elliott - Drive on to Me

My favorite indie rock, emo album of all time. I used to listen to this album (False Cathedrals) religiously and it got me through some shit, which a lot of the music I listened to when I was younger pretty much did. This was the most popular song off the album, so it's what made me listen to them more.

Get Up Kids - Long Goodnight

Another band and specifically this album that was very therapeutic to me as a teenager, around the time I was really listening to this album is when I started to come to terms with my sexuality. None of this album deals with this topic, but the mood of the album fit how I was feeling.

I used to love popular songs.
But now i enjoy other alternative songs more like the one i posted on "beautiful music"

Stevie Wonder. I was telling a bunch of people in Santa Cruz a couple months ago that people throw around the word "genius" alot with music..but Stevie is an actual genius. He writes...plays instruments....composes....mentors...produces...an d is blind...

I already loved him alot but Songs in the Key of Life blew me away.....

I love this song.....it kinda wakes me up inside when I hear it....

The entire LP is a masterpiece..I love every song on it....

Then there are a couple others that made me love him....

I bought this album when I was in High School...God...I loved it...Innnervisions....

Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing

Living For The City

...I could choose 50 more but I guess my next two favorites would also be on Songs in the Key of Life....

Pastime Paradise

I Wish

Tony Bennett....He stands alone for me as the coolest guy in music. I fucking adore him. I want to adopt him..and pinch his cheeks....and he could sing anything with class and style of course BUT...this song...means alot to me for alot of reasons...some really sad...but hearing him sing it always makes me feel OK...

Japan, loved them ever since I bought Adolescent Sex, and Quiet Life in a garage sale.

The Gun Club, first heard them in a video game.

The Cramps, a friend of mine introduced them to me.

Joni Mitchell...The whole album (which is my favorite album of all time)..two of the songs slayed me though...I was thinking maybe she spied on my thoughts when she wrote them LOL...they spoke to me like nothing else ever did...the women/man thing is interchangable...

The title song...Court and Spark...it is how I see life and love.....she summed it up perfectly for me...then and now....

...and this one...People's Parties...explained alot when I was a teenager....

Come to find out..I didn't ever know Joni MItchell and Chaka Khan were good friends all these years and Chaka Khan is working on a tribute album to Joni Mitchell......|

Put myself into a pickle because now I can't think of the first songs that really got me into some of the artists I really like.

The Format - Tie the Rope

Friend introduced me to this band. This song in particular is a bit of a downer, but either way always loved the album this song is on. "Interventions and Lullabies", love the music, the lyrics and the way the vocalist sings. Definitely one of those albums that will be in my top 10.

Bright Eyes - A Perfect Sonnet

First song I heard by him and I was hooked, I know not a lot of people don't like his vocals in this song because he quivers a lot but it works so well. Just feels like raw emotion. Absolutely love the lyrics to this song.

Elliott Smith - Christian Brothers

From what I know this song is about abuse, it might not be very apparent, though. I've heard of Elliott Smith and listened to him before this song. Then when I was younger I came across this song and there was just something about it. It just clicked, everything, the vocals, the lyrics, the music, the sound of the guitar. Everything. I love it. I could listen to it forever.

My nightmares become me
It's so fucking clear

Forget that I had a big crush on Roger Daltrey but I loved The Who when the British Invasion was happening way more than The Beatles of The Rolling Stones. I loved The Kinks too....

I liked everything they recorded but these two kinda made me fall in love with Daltrey and The Who even more....

I just posted about them in a different thread, but this is the song that really sold me on them. Remember first listening to their album "Silent Alarm" and was into it, but then got to "This Modern Love", the name, the music, the lyrics just all clicked and solidified my enjoyment of this band.

A friend of mine got me into this band through this song.

Fuck...ahhhha
Fuck...ahaaha
Fuck....ahahh
Fuck...ahhhha
Ye-hay...
Fuck Ted Nugent he's a fucking jerk
I wish that he'd be gone
Chauvanistic Republican, kills animals
He forgot how to write a song
He's a dick!
Fuck him!
Asshole!
Fuck him!
Fuck Ted Nugent, and fuck the NRA
And fuck their attitude
He thinks riding a buffalo and wearing Oakleys
Will make him look real cool
He's a dick!
Fuck him!
Asshole!
Fuck him!
He thinks he'll get the girls
By killing little squirrels
Jennifur Lopez
Fur-wearing fucking twat
She likes to eat dead cow
She thinks its cool to wear eyelashes of dead foxes
Cuz she thinks it hides the pounds
Shes a bitch!
Fuck her!
Asshole!
Fuck her!
She's a bitch!
Fuck her!
Asshole!
Fuck her!
One more time
Fuck Ted Nugent!

Where to begin. This song made me discover Rancid, though I found out about punk rock with Sum 41 a while back.

I want to put this somewhere and I hope someone will notice and check it out. At the end of The Voice last night Janice Freeman sang The Story and the song and her rendition just got all over me.And can this lady sing!
