I don't think this song was written specifically about coming out but it always sounds to me like the person singing the song is talking about being in the closet and wanting so desperately to come out but is afraid of the fighting and anger it may cause. I also love the line at the end "You might not, not think so now, but just you wait and see--someone will come to help you. "
