Songs Worth Sharing

Whitney should have sung 'One Moment In Time' at Trump's Inaugural

"And I Am Telling You That I'm Not Going" is another song that many people who have experienced deep love can also experience great loss.
Jennifer's gutural exclaimations tell us how her heart has been broke

Get to the good bit at 3:25

I chose this old version because I don't know if she delivers it elsewhere, as she does here

I decided to start a new thread for songs that are beautiful, interesting, creative, or otherwise worth sharing, separate from the Earworms thread. Earworm implies a song stuck in your head to the point of annoyance, and I feel there are a lot of songs JUB subscribers might like that don't fit in that category. I'll start it off with this selection:

This is an exquisite version of the Italian classic "Senza Fine," by the Brazilian artist Zizi Possi.

Love it, Love it, Love it, thanks.

for those who enjoy accents - the magnificent sounds that are Miami

I just love Julie London and have all her records. Her last album for Liberty Records "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy" is a gem.

What a joy to know Julie has fans on JUB. "Cry Me a River" is one of the old standards performed by many singers over the years. Julie's version really moves me!

Another song from a video game, lore for a League of Legends character.

A reply to the video explains it:

The two men are named Val and Kai and they are partners. They met in the midst of an epic battle with some beast and from that moment on became dependent on each other and they refuse to be apart. Kai is the one injured in what looks like a noxus invasion on Ionia and Val is unwilling to live without him. The Darkin Varus is trapped in a bow in the bottom of the Well they two are seen at. When they fall in, Varus attempts to take on of them over and alone, they would've been overtaken by the Darkin power. However, the love they share allowed them both to become a host for Varus and give him life again.

Julie London's "Cry Me A River" is the version that everyone else tries to remake but nobody can! I saw Olivia Newton-John live and she sang it. Before she started she told the story of how everyone wanted to be like Julie but it just could not be done. She said she even tried smoking to see if she could sing like her but found smoking disgusting. When she was ready to sing, she asked for her Julie London outfit which was a beautiful gold shiny coat down to the stage floor. She was not that good at the song, but the story was worth it and she gave it a good try.

Christopher Dean and Jane Torvill took ice dancing to a whole other place with 'Bolero'

I Never Dreamed Someone Like You Could Love - Kate Irving

Could it be that the lady is me
In the photograph?
I'm afraid 'cause it feels too good
And I want it too bad
It's just not true
Couldn't ask for anyone more than you
Because you look at me
As though I'm beautiful
Could it be that you want me?
I never dreamed someone like you
Could want someone like me
I'm not sure but the more that it's real
The more that it's right; oh, what a night
It's as though we've been lovers
All of our lives
There must be a God
Could it be that he's heard me at last?
Because you look at me
As though I'm beautiful
Could it be that you want me?
I never dreamed someone like you
Could want someone like me
All the pain and the pleasure's the same
It goes so fast
I'm the girl with the strawberry hair
In the photograph
So come on, let's dance
Let me have it while I have the chance
'Cause there's another world
Where there are other girls
But, tonight, there's only me
I never dreamed someone like you
Could love someone like me

Go to work and take your calls
Hang the fruits of your labour on the walls
Such precision and care
What does it matter
If there's no one here to share

The flowers in the garden the wine
The Waiting for the Godot
And so much modern time?

All I want is what you want
I'm always waiting for a red letter day

The years perfecting a stance of
Measured cool fade into insignificance
The moment one starts to understand
What on earth does it profit a man?

All I want is what you want
I'm always waiting for a red letter day
For something special somehow new
Someone saying ?I love you'
Baby I'm waiting for the red letter day

You can sneer or disappear behind a veneer
Of self-control
But for all of those who don't fit
In who follow their instincts
And are told they sin
This is a prayer for a different way

All I want is what you want
I'm always waiting for a red letter day

Like Christmas morning
When you're a kid
Admit you love me and you always did
Baby I'm hoping for that red letter day today

This entire song is about only three seconds of life. I think most people have been in a position where they have to say something to someone that they know is going to devastate them and change their life forever. It’s about the silence between those words leaving your mouth, and their reaction as those words register and the full weight rolls over them...until they say something back. its probably the most deafening thing I’ve ever experienced. the video is meant to be a physical representation of the build up before that and then the sudden explosion of quiet that seems to last forever.

Man, I Feel Like A Woman (Men get to hear the truth about themselves)

First, I must say that all of you have made some fantastic contributions to this thread-- Keep it coming! I hope everybody can find this, now that JUB has moved it.

When David Bowie recorded his final album, Blackstar, he had terminal liver cancer, but he apparently let no one else working on the album know. As it turned out, Bowie's 69th birthday, the release of the album, and his death all happened in a two day period, in January 2016. The lyrics and video for the title song are a staggering meditation on the transition between life and death, and no one will ever be able to figure it all out.

In the villa of Ormen, in the villa of Ormen
Stands a solitary candle, ah ah, ah ah
In the centre of it all, in the centre of it all
Your eyes
On the day of execution, on the day of execution
Only women kneel and smile, ah ah, ah ah
At the center of it all, at the center of it all
Your eyes
Your eyes
Ah ah ah
Ah ah ah
In the villa of Ormen, in the villa of Ormen
Stands a solitary candle, ah-ah, ah-ah
At the center of it all, at the center of it all
Your eyes
Your eyes
Ah ah ah
Something happened on the day he died
Spirit rose a metre then stepped aside
Somebody else took his place, and bravely cried
(I'm a blackstar, I'm a blackstar)
How many times does an angel fall?
How many people lie instead of talking tall?
He trod on sacred ground, he cried loud into the crowd
(I'm a blackstar, I'm a blackstar, I'm not a gangster)
I can't answer why (I'm a blackstar)
Just go with me (I'm not a filmstar)
I'ma take you home (I'm a blackstar)
Take your passport and shoes (I'm not a popstar)
And your sedatives, boo (I'm a blackstar)
You're a flash in the pan (I'm not a marvel star)
I'm the great I Am (I'm a blackstar)
I'm a blackstar, way up, oh honey, I've got game
I see right, so wide, so open-hearted it's pain
I want eagles in my daydreams, diamonds in my eyes
(I'm a blackstar, I'm a blackstar)
Something happened on the day he died
Spirit rose a metre then stepped aside
Somebody else took his place, and bravely cried
(I'm a blackstar, I'm a star star, I'm a blackstar)
I can't answer why (I'm not a gangster)
But I can tell you how (I'm not a flam star)
We were born upside-down (I'm a star star)
Born the wrong way 'round (I'm not a white star)
(I'm a blackstar)
('m not a gangster)
(I'm a blackstar, I'm a blackstar)
In the villa of Ormen stands a solitary candle
Ah ah, ah ah
At the centre of it all, your eyes
On the day of execution, only women kneel and smile
Ah ah, ah ah
At the centre of it all, your eyes
Your eyes
Ah ah ah
