Songs You Listen To While Running/Jogging

well I have strange taste in music. When I do run it is for about 2.5-3 miles but I only do it 2-3 times a week. I'm an ectomorph so I don't want to run too much.

Here are three songs which I listen to fairly regularly for running. I listen to more, but I don't want to post all of them.

It usually depends on my mood. Like if I'm really into a song I'll run with that song for 2 or so miles and shuffle switch to other songs the rest of the run. lately it's been "So Happy I could Die (Gaga)", "Bittersweet (Sophie-Ellis Bextor)", "Fight for this Love (Cheryl Cole)."

I agree though whether it's swimming or running if I don't have the right music on my playlist it's either going to be short workout or a really tough one.

I have a folder on the iPod specifically for working out (jogging). There's 2710 songs in it.

I like industrial instrumental music to jog with, like NIN's Just Like You Imagined, A Warm Place, Complication or Emile Autumn's instrumentals (all of them are solid pieces especially Manic Depression).

Usually, I keep the thing on shuffle and bat away any song I'm not in the mood for. But, inspired by your post, I listened to the songs as they came. This is about an hour's worth.

"Crazy on You" - Heart
Probably my favorite song from them, back from the mid 70s.

"You Take Me Up" - Thompson Twins
One of their minor hits, but I still like it.

On Broadway" - George Benson
1979 hit remake of the Drifters classic.

"The Future Freaks Me Out" - Motion City Soundtrack
Modern rock number from a couple years ago.

"Happy Hour" - Housemartins
A peppy (if ironic) number from the 80s. Bonus points for picking out Fat Boy Slim.

"The Only One I Know" - Charlatans (UK)
A groovy number from the early 90s. The band was vaguely lumped into the "Madchester" scene so popular at the time.

"Sweatbox" - Wolfgang Press
An off-kilter "college rock" number from the late 80s (I think). The heavy breathing and plodding beat make it good to run to .:)

"Endorphinmachine" - Prince
A rocking track from the mid-90s (Version in the video isn't as good.)

"Ddiamondd" - Battles
Indie rock with stream-of-consciousness lyrics.

"Lex" - Ratatat
Hey, it's my theme song! :)

"Shot in the Dark" - Ozzy Osbourne
Ozzy goes pop in the hair-metal 80s.

"Weirdo" - Charlatans (UK)
Strange, since I only have these two Charlatans songs in my folder. But there you be. :)

"Going Home" - Hearts of Palm (Nathan & Stephen)
A peppy indie-rock song by a local artist.

"Penetration" - Pyramids
A surf-rock instrumental from the mid 60s.

"A Walk in the Black Forest" - Horst Jankowski
A rather peppy easy-listening song from the mid 60s.

i listen to podcasts specifically for running w/ warm ups, sustained bpm, sprints, cooldowns, etc. i don't really care about the actual music, its the beat i'm after.

It's usually a mix of new songs I download that have good beats. Black Eyed Peas have some really good tunes to listen to while running.
