No Republicans are not American Nazis. They have different ideas. In fact its a good party like ours is. I think how the party is built is based on some very good ideas.. as is the democratic party. There is good and bad in both groups. I feel if both worked together truthfully and honestly.. things will get done faster. It just so happens in the opinion of many.. we had a few current republicans in recent news and years that didn't make some very good choices.

Nazis did horrific things... not the republican party. BAD PEOPLE which happened to be republican such as george bush is an evil man. But Not like Hitler. And I'm sorry for comparing nazis to republicans because its not right. I fell for propaganda just like everyone else. I think all parties should treat others with respect and get along.. but of course you know politicians never work like that.

If the parties can't do it for the most part,it sure ain't going to be easy here for the most part.If the Republicans were as bad as lefties say this forum wouldn't exist, not to mention this site.If the Democrats are as socialist and committed to government control of everything, the whining right wing talkers would be silenced.Neither has happened, nor will....and truth is neither the right nor left could effectively govern in America the way their bases would desire.

I will respect Democrats and Republicans of good will even when in opposition to policy,as being in disagreement does not require being disagreeable. There is in the USA today a weekly column by the conservative Republican Cal Thomas and the liberal Democrat Bob Beckel, who both have candidly admiitted their past practices of promoting partisan division were terribly counterproductive. It's called "Building Bridges" and in this hopefully beyond mere partisan Obama Administration, its support for positive engagement between political parties to work on common sense ways of making America work better gains traction on a national scale.

FDR allowed for the incarceration of thousands of American citizens who simply happened to be of Japanese descent simply because we were at war with Japan. That can be argued is morally as reprehensible than the Bush policy of incarcerating alleged terrorists in Guantanamo. No party has a monopoly on righteousness.

Nope.

America is a center-left country. I'm sure I've said this somewhere before, but it's the truth. Too far right and too far left are not the way to go.

I'm definitely against government being too big for the buildings it already has--hell, in my opinion it has too many as it is.

Well isn't this a breath of fresh air! Sir, you are truly a gentleman and apparently a scholar as well. While I have disdain for both parties, neither should be compared to the Nazis.

It cheapens the atrocities committed against humanity by the Nazis to do so. Thank you so much for acting like an adult and admitting your mistake.

Gee, I don't know. Let's try total, 100% unwavering Democratic rule for, Oh, 100 years, and then decide.

The results are in.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/20/beck.cities/index.html

Democratic controlled cities lead the nation in Poverty.

Cincinnati, Ohio (third on the poverty rate list), hasn't had a Republican mayor since 1984. Cleveland, Ohio (fourth on the list), has been led by a Democrat since 1989. St. Louis, Missouri (sixth), hasn't had a Republican since 1949, Milwaukee, Wisconsin (eighth), since 1908, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (ninth), since 1952 and Newark, New Jersey (10th), since 1907.

Now that we have the facts. You decide.

It's the Democrat Party, not the Democratic Party. Both parties are "democratic."

No it isn't. That's just a ruse the Republicans started with Gingrich in the 90's. Before that no one referred to it as anything but the Democratic Party.

Its official and accepted name is the Democratic Party.

Yes, "American Nazi" is over the top, it's too much. "Fascist" is both accurate and appropriate and the better choice.

So are you democRATS or do we now have to call you democRATICS.

Rat or erratic it is the same thing.....

Sorry Madonna I couldnt help. Although, I may love to poke fun at those died in yellow wool; I really do like the idea of working towards a goal. If we find out we were working towards the wrong goal later we can change directions but the stagnation caused by partisanship over the last 20 years is overwhelming.

It's the Democrat Party, not the Democratic Party. Both parties are "democratic."

The term "democratic" is an adjective describing what are claimed as the core principles, and is thus appended to the party. It's actually a grammatical device; we naturally understand (or are supposed to) that the term "Democratic Party" is shorthand for "We believe in democratic principles" Party.

Ever hear of a proper noun? You know, a person, place, or object? Like, you know, The Democratic Party? You cannot modify a proper noun and pretend it's grammatically kosher -- it isn't.

Actually there is a grammatical way to properly have the "Democrat Party"; putting it that way sort of implies that a bunch of people who happened to be democrats got together and formed a party, the "Party of Democrats", or the "Democrat Party". In reality, the party was formed to champion democratic principles, so "democratic" is the proper form.
