Youtube and Xtube sound is mute and http://www.amazon.com sample music clips don't start up. Wikipedia samples work and iTunes sound is PERFECTION.

Why won't the others work?

What happened?

It is all Flash that you are talking about, so maybe reinstall , Good Luck

I downloaded adobe's flash player but youtube still won't work. :(
I'm gonna try Xtube now.
Yeah, that's mute too. :(
But thanks for the attempt! ;)

Huh. Are you sure you haven't just set their stuff on mute? Maybe open up your master sound controls (double click on the speaker near your clock) and check to see if toggling those settings helps.

What internet browser are you using? Are you using a script blocking add-on like NoScript in Firefox?

I'm using Firefox. And the volume is full blast. And about 2 weeks ago everything was working fine. I don't think I did anything. :*(

I still need help. I have went to tons of video things that need sound for their videos and none of them work. Nothing is on mute. I've checked that.

Do you have sound at all, can you play a mp3 ?
Is it onboard or do you have a sound card ?

create a new firefox profile.

- restart the computer (this may not seem necessary, but trust me). no nothing else except:
- use explorer go to go c:\documents and settings\gameboy 11\Application Data\
- rename mozilla to oldmozilla.
- open firefox back up and try out flash.

if that works, then import your bookmarks from your old profile. (pm me if you need instructions on how to do that).

let us know if you got a mac or linux system... or solaris.... or plan 9 ..... or yellow tab... whichever

good luck

youtube, xtube and most sites where i can watch movies are MUTE.
for some reason there is ONE porn site that clips work on but the player is WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER.

so WMP and iTunes works, and so does wikipedia clips but that's it. no amazon, no youtube, no nothing.

And to the latest poster, that sounds very confusing but I'll try my best.

And I have Windows XP. A Dell.

and creating a new firefox file? what's that all about? you mean download firefox again? I don't follow you.

how do i do the step in bold? I'm confused there. What explorer? And I've tried just looking for a file or folder, and that doesn't work. I don't know what Application Data is (and can't find it). Do you simply want me to use run doing this?....

OK. forgot to say that I did create another file. I just didn't name it what the other guy wanted me to name it cause I had to close my window then. So there are two profiles and every time that i click on firefox to open it it asks me which one that I wanna use.

Now what?

I miss the older category where you asked computer help in. It was faster and more people replied...this site changed a little bit, for the worse, but I guess it's not a huge deal.

Anyway, that was kinda off topic. The sound is FINE (now).

I found out from my awesome younger brother that some option in audio and speakers or whatever, was set to some option called Modem #4 Line Playback was somehow selected, and disabled my speaker sound for things other than iTunes and WMP, and strangely, Wikipedia samples worked too.

But the rest, like any streaming video sounds would not work. But they do now. All he did was switch from Modem #4 Line Playback to Soundmax digital audio, and BAM, I can watch Twilight online with sound.

I've been trying to watch this movie on and off forever, lately. lol....but now I don't need my bro's laptop for sound.

haha.

Thanks for trying guys. I'm glad I didn't have to create another account and such. I did that, but I couldn't figure out the rest, so I just deleted that and waited.

Long story short, the problem's fixed now and I'm happy about that. Doing all of those instructions (with my luck) probably wouldn't have worked anyway, since it was a simple option mistake.

Bye.
