Soy Milk

Apparently some chemicals in soy act like estrogen in the human body, and can reduce your sex drive and cause a negative effect on your sperm count.... But that's just what I heard - I'm not sure if it's true at all, as I'm not the FDA :).

i love the occasional soymilk (vanilla! mmmm!) but it can make me flatulent.

Was drinking Soy, then switched to Rice Milk. Yes, it's a bit chalky, but I've always felt that humans were never intended to drink milk from a cow -- it just weirds me out.

BTW, the transition from Soy to Rice was easier than from Cow's to Soy. I only drink it with my morning cereal, anyway.

Rice milk is much tastier than soy. I've never liked cow's milk.

Soy is another one of those things surrounded by controversy. The problem with finding info online is certain websites are biased and only provide information from one side of the argument. I found this article to be helpful because it compares contrasting evidence from different studies, but some people may feel it's biased in favor of soy because it concludes that soy is favorable, and is also written with a bit more focus on weight lifters.

(I had to add spaces since I don't have 25 posts yet so just fill them in xp)

Personally I've been drinking soy milk for a long time, and when I get my blood tested each year, all my levels are where they should be.

I once searched for scientific publications (not just web articles) about this topic and didn't find anything that would proof that some steroids in soy would act like estrogen or even have measurable consequences like sperm count. This can have several reasons: 1. it's very hard to conduct data on nutrition that is not totally noisy. 2. There simply is no such negative effect. 3. No one is interested in to topic and thus no one did a study on it - I doubt...

I'm another believer that milk is not good for you and all the benefits from it have been added into it...
Tryout rice milk too. I use both soy and rice and switch back and forth so that I'm not using one or the other too much.
Moderation is the key to everything.

There have been some studies done on soy and I don't have them to hand but I did quote them in a paper I wrote last year - consumed regularly it can have a negative effect on both men and women causing longer periods for women and a lower sperm count for men. Everything I've heard so far suggests Rice Milk is better.
I found all those studies odd, considering the amount of Soy that people in the Far East consume

China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, etc...

and they are not having low population problems...

I drink soy milk all the time, but I hope it isn't hurting me in anyway. Soy milk tastes great, especially the vanilla kind.

But i'll try to find rice milk since people say that's good.

I'm off cow's milk and have switched to soy.

Is this okay?

I've heard soy can be weird sometimes. Especially for men? I don't know, this is just what I've heard.

A customer of mine told me his doctor wants him off soy.

I have about 8 ounces of soy per day.

Anyone knowledgeable on soy and its pros and cons?

There are pros and cons with every type of food and diet. I say don't drive yourself crazy and concentrate on the bigger picture for health. Having one or two glasses of soy milk a day is not gonna do anyone harm unless you just happen to be allergic to it. I have been drinking it for 3 years. Soy is safe and a healthful food when eaten in a whole food form. Regular consumption has been associated with positive health that far outweigh the negatives. Stay away from fortified soy isoflavones products and supplements though.

I've tried rice milk and don't care for it. Tried oat milk recently and liked it.

As for soy milk, I've been drinking it for several years (6-9) and find that it agrees with me. Maybe because it's a sort of super food for people of Blood Type A. I also find that having tofu, instead of meat, is beneficial as is eating straight soybeans (edamame ).

Drink Soy milk and look like me....

LOL!
Well you are hot, but I tried soy with my cereal for several weeks and noticed that my hair was coming out in the shower. If you google "soy milk and male hair loss" all kinds of interesting articles come up. I m sure it can effect different people in different ways....it s not for me
