Spelling Rant

JUBber... pronounced like rubber... is an upstanding member of the community

JUBer ... pronounced like goober.... is an internet flake that plagues the board

so both are correct

just depends on their usage

Very simply, the post of the decade!

JUBbers would expander to Justusboysers, whereas JUBs would be justusboys only. Sort of, at any rate.
No, JUBs would expand to Just Us Boyses. Which has a certain charming ring to it but is grammatically incorrect.

Technically, though, when you convert an acronymic noun to a verb, you can't use the regular verb-to-noun rules because it has to make sense either as an acronym or fully spelled out. Just as one goes scuba-diving or is a scuba-diver rather than scubaing or scubaer. The correct word for us would be JUB member or JUB user.

I only point this out because I am still paying for my BA in English and want to get my money's worth. I will continue to stick to JUBber for my personal use.

I prefer JUBber, you have to have two Bs to soften the U, as with "Tub" and "Tubber" rather than "Tuber"; but the second B shouldn't be capitalized because it's not part of the acronym.

But having a correct spelling for the word won't do any good. People will misspell it on purpose just to be rebellious.

My thoughts exactly. :D

Because I can and I'm bored, how about... (drum roll) jubsies? (jarring chord)

Sounds pretty naff, I know, but oh so affectionate... like we always are to each other, all the time, every day, without fail.

Anyone for jubsies? Anyone? Jubsies?

No?
