Spider-Man 4 canned

...and Sony is thinking of going the "reboot" route with a new cast and new director, supposedly based on Peter Parker's high school years. This sounds terrible! Does it make sense to reboot a film franchise that's not even 10 years old yet?

I tried re-watching SM3 a few weeks ago, and it was a lot worse than I remember. They should just kill the franchise now.

Probably a good idea. Tobey Maguire is getting a little too old to be playing Peter Parker. SM3 could have been good but they had too many villains and not enough story behind them. SM2 however was the best superhero film ever. I think I saw it 6 times.

Why not a film based on Peter Parker's high school years? It worked for Clark Kent.

A reboot doesn't really need to happen, even though Spiderman 3 sort of destroyed the good will made by the first two movies...Mainly through dancing emo-Peter Parker.

I don't think they need to go all the way back to Peter Parker in high school and reintroduce the origin story of getting bitten; after all, James Bond worked for quite a few movies before needing a reboot with Casino Royale.

Just give us the new Spiderman, with a good villain and story, minus the emo-look and dancing, and we shouldn't need to start all over again.

i think a reboot is premature.

the only reason the third movie was a stinker was the forced inclusion of venom. you can blame that on avi arad. the original treatment was only the sandman and you can see shades of what raimi was aiming at.

What a stupid and DREADFUL idea........ do we really need a new Spiderman1? GROSS! Just make Spiderman 4, and make it a solid movie, its much too soon and uncalled for to do a reboot. Batman NEEDED a reboot bc it was handled wrong in the 90's. Spider doesnt!

Anyway, I would actually rather they changed the cast - Tobey Maguire is awful - and I'm sure they could someone more attractive to play Peter Parker.

I didn't watch the movies after the first Spiderman so I'm not really bothered.

Watch the second one, at least. It's the best out of the three...definitely rivals the last Batman film in regards to quality. That's why a lot of people raged, I think...the third film didn't even compare to either of the first two.

It's too early for a reboot, but it would be nice to have the 'Batman treatment' a decade down the road.

That should be easy viewing - I didn't rate the Batman movie it was too long and I got bored.

Yah being a crazy warcraft geek, I question how good the movie will actually be. As long as the plot doesn't revolve around "Mary Sue" Rhonin Redhair saving Azeroth from itself, I'll see it.

I never thought about Shia but thats something to think about. I liked the first movie but the last 2 kinda of sucked, I like the Xmen movies better. But atleast the last 2 Spidey movies werent as bad as the fuckred up Fantastic four.

If Jake Gyllenhaal was a better actor, I wouldn't mind him filling in Tobey's suit. I mean they look like they are related anyway. But reading the news of the crappy storyline that was in the works, and Raimi's demands for bad ass (Avatar worthy) CGI graphics, its whatever.
