I assume that's to stay in common with Chris Pine's first (and I assume the second) Trek movies. Seemed like it was full of lens flares too.

Back in the day I think that lens flares in movies or Tv series are cool. These days, editors spams lens flares so much so that they seemed to come off as cheap lol. (My lecturer mentioned this)

That's why I said it ;)

To be honest, I didn't really notice them in the commercial until you pointed them out... I've never been into cars much, and kind of gloss over them when they're on screen, and I was paying more attention to the Spocks. ;)

Illogical, but funny. I loved it.

Yes! We tried watching the first movie in TV last Friday night. It had so many lens flares I could hardly see any of the characters.

BTW: I couldn't understand what was happening in the last scene of the ad. Was it a taxi or a trekkie in-joke?

There is a new gadget in cars which allows it to go find its own parking spot. When you come back out, you hit the remote and the car starts up on its own and comes back to pick you up.

thanks - - - I too found that [STRIKE]fascinating[/STRIKE] funny

Awesome!

I really wish I could do that neck pinch.....

The "neck pinch" is called the Vulcan Death Touch, I seem to recall.

Actually, it is the Vulcan nerve pinch. It only had the power to render people unconscious.

The was one episode where they called it a Death Pinch in a rouse against the Romulans, to steal a cloaking device. ;)

Nimoy came up with that in the first season episode 'The Enemy Within' (the one where the transporter splits Kirk into 'good' and 'evil'. Near the end, where the 2 Kirks confront each other, the script called for Spock to shoot the evil Kirk, but Leonard felt that, since the Vulcans were non-violent, they would have discovered another way of incapacitating someone. The director basically told Leonard to come up with something, so Leonard took William off to the side, Leonard told William what he had in mind, and they did it. The director loved it and the nerve pinch was born.

Nimoy also invented the Vulcan salute:
