The keyboard and mouse-pad on my laptop got fried, so I purchased an external one. Now after it's been on for a bit, I'll get a message that says "are you sure you want to delete this (file, shortcut, etc). I click 'no' and it pops up again and again. I go into task manager and there will be hundreds of these 'delete' orders. I usually have to reboot to make it go away.

Is my computer getting confused by the presence of two keyboards. Do I need to disable the one on my laptop?

It sounds like something is wrong in your delete key on one of the keyboards. It sounds like it is depressed, or something is stuck in it. I'd start my investigation there.

If I go into the Device Manager and uninstall the keyboard, can I reinstall it at a later date?

I'm not sure... but that sounds pretty extreme.

I would first look at the delete key, and make sure it's not faulty (broken), or has a lot of gunk under it making it stick. I've never tried it, but I've had friends that would pop off the keys and clean under them. You might Google the process, and see if you can remove the delete key to inspect under it, or fix the problem by not having it there? :)

Knock on wood I think it's resolved. I think it was caused by a malware, FunMoods, which I picked up a while back when I downloaded some freeware off cnet. It took over my browser -- suddenly FunMoods became my home page. I thought I'd gotten rid of it all at the time but apparently not. I did a deep scan in safe mode, which uncovered dozens of FunMoods bugs. Once I got rid of those both my auto deleting, auto dots, and difficult start-ups went away.

Well that's certainly a lot better then ripping out your delete key !!! :)

Glad you got it fixed though, and good to hear your PC is cleaned out of those nasty bugs!!!
