Anybody have any experience to getting a spray-on tan? I'm thinking of doing it. I'm pasty white but I'm not stupid enough to lay out in the sun or go to a tanning booth.

I don't know anyone who's gotten one. I remember the hilarious episode of Friends where Ross got it all on one side.

So, those of you who've had it done, were you happy with the results? Anything I need to know before doing it?

Be advised and be forewarned:

I've never done it but I can only see it turning out bad. It will wash off as soon as you get in the shower, won't it?

All I can recommend is to use a light one, and even then, to not overdo it. If you're pasty white to start off it, a dark tan probably wouldn't look natural anyway.

Personally, I have never tanned well, naturally or otherwise. I fade back to my original colour in a week.

Tip: If heading to South East Asia, pasty white gets good attention.

:)

Luckily I don't need those as I can get tanned just by going outside. The sun shines strong all year long here.

don't do it. look at gsdx's post.
fake tans look horrible

Ummm...to not look pasty white?

Anybody have a real answer?

I already gave you one. Spray-on tans are fake, splotchy, and turn your skin orange.

And stay away from tanning salons as well. Tanning beds are worse than lying out in the sun all day.

I found this. It might help and seems to be a better alternative than sprays:

You all aren't getting it. I'm not talking about a product you buy. (I thought the Ross reference would've been enough to steer you in the right direction).

I'm talking about the spas where they spray you all over. In a couple of hours you darken. How dark depends on the strength of the spray and how often applied.

Apparently nobody watched Friends.

I've never heard that of system.

I think white guys are hottest when they're really pale/pasty white. It's sexy to me. It's turn me on lol. Really. Especially when their balls are pink or red in contrast; it's like WHOAH; look so hot.

okay the OP wants a tan guys. he's chic to know sun damage isn't hot.

the whole idea of getting a sun tan, is about looking like you have been sun kissed not sun burned. no one wants a sunburned look unless you're from like new jersey.

i have olive skin, luckily i can tan easy in the sun. but i prefer to do the faux tans.

my fave self tanner is from Mychelle called Del Sol. It's was developed by a woman from Colorado, so the color is very light and will gradually build up with repeat uses. Plus it's paraben, edta, propylene glycol, and mineral oil free, completely non toxic. Plus the DHA that is used to "warm up the skin" is made from sugar beets.

Remember to exfoliate before hand, again I recommend Suki Organic Sugar Scrub or Mychelle Fruit Enzyme Scrub, all non toxic. Then apply your toner, your moisturizer and then self tanner avoid hair line areas (brows included). Wash your hands thoroughly!!!

happy tanning and ignore the haters.

I remember the episode of Friends.

However, since I'm used to actual sunlight, I just tan by *gasp* going out into the sun a little bit. I can't see how covering yourself in fake tan is any better for your skin than generating a little Vitamin D the natural way.

A little bit of sun never killed anyone, unless s/he was stricken with XP.

I found the episode.

I'm not surprised I stopped watching the show before Chandler and Monica got married.

If you decide to try it, don't count Mississippily.

The sun healthy in small amounts. My dermatologist said 45 minutes of exposed sunlight is good for me, but no more. Since the darker the skin the better Uv protection.

I actually refuse to wear sunscreen, since I'm more likely to get cancer from sunblocks rather than the actual sun.

Plus I'm in Portland, where's the sun, today? I'm actually cold today.

The thing is, a good tan is equated by most people with a healthy vigorous out-doorsness, whereas pasty white skin (which is what I have) makes you appear to be an indoors geek. I go from pasty white to burned, then back to white. I've never ever tanned, although my skin can sometimes take on a slight off-white hue if I'm careful. These days I can't be bothered - I wear 30+ SPF sun block, a hat, and a shirt outside.

If you want a spray-on tan - go for it! but make sure that the tan you get is compatible with your skin type and skin colouring.

And send before-and-after photos. Naked, of course.

-T.
