oh that's right!

i still think a gary 7 program would be fun.

hell, it would be a lot more fun than this ongoing star trek film...

but that's just my opinion!

it stalled out again...

seems the guy that is doing bond now has voiced interest in taking the kirk roll... so matt damon has competition for it... and i read that mccoy was written out so gary sinise is out of the project now as well

okies

heres an easy trivia question....

what two people were in all incarnations of trek?

uuhhh ohhh

i just stumped everyone

i may be the nerd king of JUB now !oops!

well... sarek, spock, scotty and mccoy each appeared in tng.

kirk was in generations.

off the top of my head i cannot recall any one character that was in each program in the star trek universe.

how about this? which actor has portrayed one of the three core alien races in the series?

Was Majel Barret's voice in all of them?

(response to Andreus' question)

Could it be Majel Barrett and Leonard Nimoy?

that was mark lenard

and riverrick is right on one count....

majel barret played the computer voice in all episodes

it was a fix....

just as gene roddenberry wrote lyrics to the themesong so that he could get half the royalties from the music everytime its played, even though the lyrics are never used

the other actor to appear in all genres is Michael Dorn.... he got his foot in the door on the last TOS movie playing his grandfather who defended kirk and mccoy for assasinating the chancellor of the klingon high council

next trivia question....

who created the klingon language for ST TMP

speaking of st: tmp...

name the director of the film and the name of the other classic sci fi movie he made.

mark okrand.

james doohan made it for the first movie

okrand fleshed it out later when it was decided that they would be used extensively

also

on the language thing... if you read the vulcan high priestess's lips in the first movie, you can see that she was originally speaking english and made up vulcan words were dubbed over it to make it seem more realistic

Damnit. How come I'm only 1 of 3 who voted Star Wars???

well

star wars is grander in theme i think

it is based on the path of the hero as outined by campbell and so its much more philosphical and much less social commentary i guess

they are equally grand in scope thats for sure

I liked them both myself, but I think this is a good question.

What's the big attraction to Star Trek? Curious minds want to know!

don't get me wrong, i love star wars. i can remember seeing the movie when it was first released. at 8 years old it was a water shed moment and one of my favorite childhood memories. star wars was... epic. it was a movie about heroes and villains.

whereas star trek, although epic at times, was trying to do something more. roddenberry made no apologies about his making social commentaries in the stories. not to mention the fact that he made a utopian future where there is no war or strife amongst the human race. we were part of something bigger and grander in scale by way of the united federation of planets.

and they had cooler star ships. :)

i love a man in uniform who know how to drive a throbbing warp nascelle

Too bad TMP was so boring. It was very nostalgic when it came out but the script lacked the essentials of a good episode of the original series. Which was interplay between the characters and Kirk boldly facing a supposedly unbeatable enemy.

This they remedied in The Wrath of Khan. ..|

Just the opinion of the local Star Trek Idiot. Feel free to ignore these remarks if you don't agree. :( rR
