Stargate SG-1 final season *Sob Sniff*

It's a shame that it's getting cancelled but it was getting a little old. I know I haven't been looking forward to the new episodes like before. I think the Ori concept was too much to digest after the defeat of the Go'auld and there is no one more irritating than Vala.

Ohhh! I'm depressed... ok, that's trie that I just saw until the 6th season because here they never aired the others... and yes, i should use emule to see it... i'll do... but it was sooo good that I dont' wanna it to finish!

Oh crap it. I only just started watching it the last...um i think 3 seasons. i'm having to catch up on the other seasons now. I am watching atlantis. that and BSG is what got me to watching sg-1.

Sad news since i've been watching it since day 1. I've been watching for pretty much since i was 10 (I'm 21 now). Hopefully they'll keep it going somehow.

ahhh the long life of sg-1 reminds me of another long lived sci fi show...um..not a US one. ;)

i hope sg-1 gets some sort of extension in some form. from the comments in the second link it looks like they are trying.

I agree about the Ori, but not so much about Vala. I didn't like her when we first encountered her aboard the Prometheus and she and Daniel. . . ahem. . . had 'S - E - X'. But, in the first few episodes of Season 9, she became quite human when she realized that, after everything she had done to Daniel, he still cared for her safety.

Well, Mikey, both shows have incredible Doctors. What's not to like, eh? ;)

Will Stargate SG-1 live on?

The Sci-Fi Channel confirmed the other day that Stargate SG-1 has been canceled. But now comes word that MGM and producers are hoping that another network picks up the show. Ratings have dropped, but the show still gets around 2 million viewers a week.
MGM spokesman Jeff Pryor: "We do have plans. This is not the end of the Stargate franchise. This is just the end of [Stargate SG-1] on the Sci-Fi Channel."
But that quote just confuses me, because saying it's not the end of the Stargate "franchise" makes it sound like they might make a third Stargate show.

This came from Wikipedia - "However, this announcement of the series cancellation is innacurate. MGM/Sony hold the rights to the series and the Sci Fi Channel merely order episodes from MGM. As of the present time, no network or company has ordered new episodes of SG-1, so the show is effectively on hold, until a new buyer can be found. MGM has expressed a desire to continue the series, but an avenue has not yet been found."

It's sad, but how many seasons can they keep running? Honestly, it's had 10 seasons, a spinoff in its third season, and a movie, plus a cancelled video game and plans for an MMORPG. It's still doing pretty good for something on its final season with a network. Maybe someone else will pick it up and it'll have an 11th season, but why push it?

I remember finding out that the Drew Carry show was on for 9 years. They didn't have enough material to make that show funny for a whole episode.

And Heart's Afire was on for 5 years.

And "Different World" was on for like 4 or 5.

I saw a few episodes of SG-1, and although I never got into it, it sure seemed a lot better than most of those TV SCI-FI shows.

It is. And I dare say it can kick the butts of both Star Trek and Star Wars. (I'll be handing in my Starfleet Uniform and Lightsaber, since that comment probably has exiled me from both communities.)

Besides, what cooler motto has any sci-fi even given us than "Bow to me, I am your god!"?

I like that show, although it got a little askew when ben browder and the chick from farscape joined.

While I still think Vala must die (bitch trying to seduce MY Daniel Jackson....), she does add a new dimension to the show. I think it's kind of funny that she's the new comic relief without Richard Dean Anderson.

I wanna a see a new cable channel. The Soilwork Channel.

If SG-1 is being canceled it's because the creative forces prolly say 'it's time.'
If and when they defeat the Ori what more can they do to top that??
I've been fond of the series.

well thank god you didn't say it was better than Doctor Who...i'd have had to beat you into your senses.

tonights episodes were pretty good. i liked them both.

Something tells me that Ben Browder and Claudia Black will return in a second Stargate spin-off.

M*A*S*H ran for 11 seasons. Sienfeld went on and on and on. . . and on. . . for 8 seasons. Bonanza ran for 14 seasons. Gunsmoke ran for 20.

With all the crap that's on television these days, it's nice to see a good show for a change, and Stargate was good. (Well, except maybe for that Hathor episode.)

With the Stargate able to visit thousands of planets, the story lines are endless. I was happy to see Ben Browder's character (Lt. Col. Cameron Mitchell) take over so easily for Richard Dean Anderson, and Ben and Michael Shanks play off each other so well. Much better than Michael and Richard ever did.

With Ben in the picture now, it's like a whole new show. It's just too bad they brought in the Ori and made Merlin an Ancient.

By the way, some time ago I mentioned that Ancient was not a spoken language. I discovered on Thursday night (Avalon, Part 1) that it is. My apologies to whoever it was that I disagreed with. I'd only seen the episode once before, and it was a single language mentioned amongst a number of other languages. I missed it the first viewing.

I think that it's a good show, but in recent years it has changed quite a lot, and that’s not necessarily a good thing. In the beginning it was more about exploration, and now the only times they go to any other planets, it's only to look for some Ancient weapon or to spy on the enemy. Before they went to all sorts of worlds that had people that were from various parts of human cultures of the past, now all the "human" worlds all look the same. The show is getting kind of old now, and the change in cast is not making it any better.
