Starting to get sick

Feeling better today :D going to play indoor soccer this morning with the guys from work. Had alot of vitamins and garlic/ chillie. Seemed to work. Thanks x

doesn't sound like the flu, which evolves in a matter of hours. you start feeling a little crummy and then -- 'run over by a train' is a common description. The flu makes you sick as a dog for at least a week. High(>39/101.4) fevers and severe headache are common.

do you get a flu shot each year. if not, it's your own fault. NOBODY EVER GOT THE FLU FROM A FLU SHOT!

Melb,

while you have the bad cold go and get some Lemsip cold and flu tablets. Not the herbal and paracetemol crap the tablets that have phenylephrine in them.

Apparently some people don't have an effective result from taking phenylephrine however from my end it is absolutely fantastic, almost better than pseudoephrine for cold/flu symptoms.

Very cheap and not even a pharmacists medication so you can just pick them off the shelf in most pharmacies to purchase.

Regarding getting the flu from the flu shot... because they usually contain inactive remanants of the virus to provoke and immune response, people probably associate that 1-2 days of feeling crappy while your immune system jumps to 'having the flu'

I still see no point in getting flu shots for regular healthy people though. If your immune system is active and you don't have any major underlying illness then you will usually be fine, the body is the best tool for fighting the flu.

I have had the flu ONCE (well when my immune system didn't fight it off). I spent 2 weeks in bed, vomiting, unable to get up from pain, sweating, and hallucinating from the fever. THIS is the flu... not feeling crap for a few days.
