Travelling with an American a while back, he asked me (just for conversation sake) if I could name for him:

1. The Northern-most State of the US
2. The Eastern-most State of the US
3. The Southern-most State of the US
4. The Western-most State of the US

Try not to look at an atlas (or google) and see if you can answer it. I was quite surprised by the answers.

Am I right?

To me, the midwest is a gray area. There never seems to be anything prominent or of national importance happening in any of those states. All I know is that they have mountains and it's cold.

The midwest may be cold, but there are no mountains there.The mountains are on the east and west side of the country..

Pretty much all of them. I only remember the ones I am talking about but then I forget about them again. I hate those states where the state and the city have the same name. I get so confused. Also I always think that California and Florida are two cities in the same state.
