Ever since I was about 12 I've dreamed of having a big beard to have and trim, sadly however after puberty was over I still couldn't grow a damn thing on my face. The hairs that grow are thick but they're very sparse and only show just how much won't grow. Its very very annoying that I have friends that want to get rid of their rocking facial hair but I can't grow shit. Is there anything I can do to help this? Or are my genetics going to keep kicking my ass in this regard?

I don't think there is a thing you can do. What happens if you trim to a very narrow bread and let that grow? After a while mypencil thin beard right along my jaw line got long enough to fill in the bald spots. The beard is now gone, but that is what worked for me.

Assuming that your testosterone levels are normal, there's not much that you can do to increase beard growth/thickness. As you suspected, it is one of those genetic traits about which there's a limited amount that you can change.

shit. I'm the same and I hate it. I had thought about posting the same question, and got my hopes up when I read the title. Maybe someone else has an idea? (I doubt it though)

I guess we'll have to stick to shaving off our pubic hair and glueing it to our face..
ehe hehe he

I don't know why I keep hoping to come across someone that says differently, oh well. Can't even do the pencil thin thing, it really is too spread out.

That's actually a very good question. I couldn't grow much of a beard when I was 18 or so and I think it carried on getting thicker right through to my early to mid-twenties. Now I have a bushy "full set" which seems to need trimming every day.

I was around thirty when I finally could grow a decent beard. Maybe you will too. I found that with my curly hair, I let it grow a little long, it turns out nicely thick and I trim it often to keep it looking dense when it really is not.

I'm 24. I have uncles on my mom's side that couldn't grow moustaches till 25,26 and my dad still can't grow a beard, hes 49.

I've attached a picture of me making a goofy face with 4 weeks of growth. Yes, that is 4 weeks. Its really shaggy/scraggly looking, don't know of anything I can do other than just shave it off.

 No offense meant, but that sounds really funny to me. I'm in the same boat. I'm nearly forty and can't even grow a goatee.

That would be about 4 days growth for me, lol, and I'd prefer if I didn't have any growth at all. Wanna trade?

That's how I look at 45. I gave up on it and just shave now. I hated Billy Mays. :D
It's genetics.

Yeah one of my room mates in college is Norwegian in descent, he grows a 5 o'clock shadow in about 4 hours after shaving. I can look smooth up to 36 hours afterwards. DAMN, oh well, I'll shave today.

You are very lucky that you have that much growth. I am 27 and only have about 5 hairs that grow on each cheek and a few under my chin. No true mustache can be grown by me and I'm often confused for being much younger.

GAH, glad I didn't even care enough to go for the rogaine thing. EESSSSSHHHh, forehead hair?! EYELID HAIR?! Screw that shit.

Not trying to brag but Im 18 and I hate my beard. Ive had it since I was 15 and I have to shave it three times a month. I hate it.

I'm part Greek, so I started growing a mustache when I was 11. Yes. . .eleven. I'll be 20 next month, and my facial hair is still very soft and patchy.
