Personally, I find straight guys waay more attractive than gay guys. They have more characteristics I like and are usually more masculine. That's just me. There are very masc gay guys but they are harder to come by.

If these men are the aggressors, I highly doubt that they are actually 100% heterosexual, whether or not they are in prison. There are plenty of men in prison who do not resort to having sex with other men.
