Just curious as to why a straight guy (or girl) would browse/interact with a gay board?

Human curiosity? Fascinated with the rest of the human race? I have straight friends who think gay guys are interesting because we're men like they are, yet different. You can learn things about others, which is interesting on its own. But by learning about people who are different than you, you can also learn things about yourself.

I find straight people fascinating.

Of course there are straight men here.

JUB is a cross-section of the world. We have every kind of member.

Some are more vocal about it, (like Mr. Barbrey, who hasn't been around lately, and whom I miss) , and others who are testing the waters here but are essentially married or bisexual, also make up our membership.

It doesn't matter to me what anyone's sexual orientation is. If you are here at JUB, we want you to have fun, with no judgment given as to why you are here.

The stigma of homosexuality is so great in society, especially for men, that I question if there would ever be a heterosexual male on these boards.

From my experience (online and in real life). I think it's fairly common. Probably about as common as straight guys being into girl-girl. But it depends on how explicit the material is. Some women just don't like hardcore gay porn (or hardcore porn altogether). But they'll be turned on by the idea of men being romantic or affectionate towards each other. It's just more taboo for women to speak openly about it, I think, since women always fear being judged/shamed for discussing anything sex-related. IRL, a lot of them will not readily admit to being into guy-guy stuff (or porn in general) unless they can trust you enough to open up about it.

See: Yaoi & Slash fiction. Both are popular and are primarily for women by women. So yeah, there seems to be a sizable female audience out there who are into guy-guy stuff.

At the risk of derailing this thread, and since we're not hearing much from/about straight men, I'll comment on this.

Good information here. Most of the "gay" stories fall in the romance category, which really isn't my thing, although I'm finding some of it to be worth reading. Personally, I prefer "real" gay erotica/porn, especially for reading (as compared to videos). When I share my favorites with female friends I have to be careful to give adequate warnings (like, "you'll want to skip the third story in that book").

I never got why women were on here either. When I first joined I thought it was cool to chat with other gay men who know what it's like to be a gay man and what we deal with. Then I see all these woman on here and it burst my bubble. I have seen argument break out on here just for the simple fact men and women do think differently and I notice that women on here don't get it. I came here originally for the eye candy. I was searching for pictures of a hot guy (can't remember who) and the 'Hot Men and Gay Porn' forum came up. So I started reading and decided to stay and register. I like to read the discussions because they're interesting (when they don't descend into slanging matches of course!) But mostly I just post pictures and don't make comments on this forum, so this is a bit of a rarity for me.

99 times out of a hundred all goes well: occasionally a straight female will post something with a bit of heterosexism or "straight female privilege." It is annoying, especially here. It is the online-forum-equivalent of a woman expecting that, in 2010, a man will take the garbage out because "that's a boy job."

But you just ignore them and let them sit in their own garbage and all is well. It is a rare interruption from an otherwise enjoyable group. And it probably pales in comparison to all the whiny vagina paranoia from the gaybois.

The straight guys who are straight have never given any lip about the gay thing, or they just wouldn't be here. The bi guys are also great. The gay guys pretending to be bi or straight, and the bi guys who don't accept their own equality, can be a real pain in the arse.

There have even been lesbians here who enjoyed gay male porn, simply because it wasn't made for the stupidest, lowest common denominator of straight men. It is hard to find smart fun straight porn that shows women enjoying their sexuality instead of catering to some guy's shortcomings. (no pun intended.) However I bet you a dollar if you found some porn that both lesbians and straight men enjoyed, I'd probably like it too.
