Straightening Hair

Just go buy a ceramic hair straightener.

A decent one will run you about $40, but its worth it. I have wavy hair and I use it when my hair is longer. I also use it to straighten out my bangs even when my hair is short.

Make sure you get a ceramic straightener though. the metal ones KILL hair. ceramic is a little bit better and doesn't completely fry it out

Ideally what you'd want to do is get a hair denaturer (I forget what they're called) and then straighten your hair and apply a restructuring substance like people do when they get perms. But you have to be careful, because when your hair has been denatured, it's at its most fragile and can tear like paper. The science behind it is fun. You denature the structure of your hair so it loses its curly structure. Then you apply the restructurerm, which makes the hair reorganize ist structure as whatever form it is presently in. Geek out.

Hi all,

I've got fairly unmanagable hair, its a little bit curly which makes it really hard to do anything with.

Can anyone recommend a shampoo or conditioner that might help me out. If you can speak from experience that would be great.

HONESTLY!! I DO!! And had my hair straighten in the 80's. ( BIG MISTAKE!!)

Find a GOOD Hair Stylest and work with (HER)!!

Like I said before.."NOTHING BEATS A GREAT CUT"!!!

Its all about Redkin products. There is a salon service called "Vertical" by Redin, I believe the name says it all. Also shampoo and condioner products to go with the service. Its kind to the hair but does the trick. The flat iron (ION, Cermaic) helps as well. Our salon has the only Board Certified Hair Colorist in South West Florida.... he studies all of these things and believe me, he knows what hes talking about.

I'm a Hairstylist and I use GHD Mini hair straighteners on a lot a of men whom hair I cut/color - they are the best straighteners but qiute expensive. Toni & Guy do brilliant shampoos for hair with a lot of products and BedHead Tigi do good shampoos/ conditioners and straightening serums

I use Bed Head Manipulator from Tony & Guy on my hair after I've straightened it to mess it up a lil. Ain't ever tried shampoo's and stuff from there though...may have to give it a try.

they have shampoos made just to straighten ur hair
the brand is sunsilk i think u should check out their website

i used that, it did an ok job with my hair but it was still fairly curly

I just go to Target, buy some of the "ethnic" no lye relaxer for 7 bucks, mix it up, put it on for ten minutes and i'm done. am Latino and have curly/wavy hair towards the front so I only use it in that area...My hair doesn't feel damaged or dead after use either, which is a big plus!

Of course, I do get embarassed buying the stuff with all these diva black women on the pink box! hehe, but like I said it works and it's inexpensive!
