This one has stumped us...
My Dad has an Acer Ferrari 4000 laptop, which is a few years old. The battery wasn't lasting very long so he ordered a replacement from a battery shop on eBay. The battery was the correct one for his laptop but when he put it in... it didn't work. It would boot up to the Windows load screen on battery and then cut out. It would however stay in BIOS on battery with no problems at all. So he put the old battery back in... and guess what? Exact same problem. So now neither his old battery or the replacement works. Both work in BIOS but as soon as Windows starts to load, the laptop just cuts out.
I thought I'd try botting in Knoppix to see how that would cope and it gets to the splash screen, starts to load and then cuts out too...
Very weird! Any ideas?
Cheers
