Strange lump :(

About 2 days ago I noticed I have this weird lump on my leg. It is about 5mm across but it got bigger then a bit smaller. The biggest it has been is about 5mm across. It is slightly red around it but the tip of the lump is a dark purpe / black colour. It hurts a little bit and is squishy when I touch it but then inside it is a bit harder.

If it gets worse I guess I will go to the Doctor but I'd like to know what it could be now.

Any ideas?
 
Where on your leg is it and could you post a picture?

It is half a cm :P You only get those if you shave or wax right? If so then no.

Eeeeep, I might try that later.

It wouldn't normally bother me but because it is like purple on the top it confused me.

You probably want to get it checked out but it looks like an infected in grown hair. You don't have to have shaved or anything to get an ingrown hair. I get them often, though RARELY do they get infected like that.
 
You neeed to make an appointment with your doctor.

It could be an ingrown hair but I don't like that round red area around it.

Have you been outdoors in the woods or on a camping trip recently? Or do you wear loose-fitting shorts that a spider could have gotten into?

Here's an example of what we call a bullseye or target rash. Does it look like this, by chance?

Looks to me like it could be a tick byte - very common here in Europe and the UK here you are from. Like Karabulut asked - have you been wearing shorts and walking in high grass or sitting on lawn wearing shorts?

Could also be a ingrown hair/sebaceous cyst or worse a pin point absess. (Any pain deeper on your inner thigh?) Anyway you need to see your doctor to rule out the tick bite - with the colorations you got . You need a blodtest to show if you got Borreliosis or Lymes Disease from the tick bite (If it is a tick bite) and start you up on antibiotics.
 
I haven't left the house since friday and I haven't wore shorts in years. Around the house I do wear loose clothing so I guess something could have crawled up and bit me.
 
It may very well be a tick. They look for areas around the groin
to attach themselves. It doesn't matter what kind of clothing
you wear they will get themselves up there.
Have it checked out, you don't need Lyme Disease. Let us
know how you make out.

I went to the bathroom about 15 minutes ago and it has popped :eek: It hasn't stopped bleeding yet, I have squeezed out most of it but little bits are still dripping out. At first it was brown and slimy with blood streaks in it but now it is just small blobs of blood. I have loads of tissues covered in blood now :(

It looked nothing like that. The lump stuck out much further and the redness around it was all over, not in a bulls eye pattern.



It is still bleeding =(

It's a good thing that it didn't have a target pattern- that's a symptom of a tick bite and often heralds Lyme Disease.

It's sounding more like an abscess or a infected ingrown hair. Given the redness in the area and your description of what was inside, you need to see your doctor and get on antibiotics. They may also want to do a culture of the wound.

It isn't as sore but it is still annoying :) It was so nasty when it popped, the hole it was coming out of was quite big so even when it had stopped bleeding anything that touched it would soak up blood.
 
I agree, it sounds like it was a boil. I had one on my thigh years ago, and when it ruptured it did the same thing yours did. When it quit pouring out brown bloody fluid, I noticed I had a hole in my leg so wide and deep I could have inserted a standard sized pencil eraser in it. I still have the scar.
