Does anyone believe the situation was addressed so readily because of the media splurge about the 93 year old guy who died in Bay City Michigan (last time I heard about Bay City was when I heard that 70s group Bay City Rollers picked their name by blindly pointing to a US map)..
 
Hey, I'm sorry I have missed this thread until now.

I'll offer my advice for dealing with bureaucratic stupidity - sometimes the best way to overcome it is to go along with it.

When the Police tell you they have determined the house is vacant, call them back and lay a complaint that someone has broken into the vacant house down the street and appears to be squatting.

Once they see that they will have paperwork either way whether the house is vacant or not, they'll get involved.
