Stranger by the Lake

Summertime in France. At a cruising spot for men, tucked away on the shores of a lake, Franck falls for Michel, but Michel has a regular lover. When Franck witnesses Michel killing his lover, he is shocked, but nonetheless his passion for this dangerous man overrides any sense of personal safety, and the two men begin an affair.

Whilst waiting for Michel to arrive each day, Franck befriends Henri, an older man, who doesn't fit in with the scene. Their friendship is not based on sex, but on conversation and a shared observation of their world and situation. As Franck and Michel's liaisons continue with reckless abandonment, a policeman arrives at the lake as the body of Michel's murdered lover has been discovered…

The sex scenes were a combination of simulation (the actors pretending) and extras having sex - with their footage added in.

I absolutly love this movie

it was so nice to see a really good gay theme movie being made for once, the scenes were shot beautifully, the acting was real do and the storyline was intense

I also loved how there was alot of actually gay sex in it was explicit but it was done in a very tastefull way so it didten feel pornish....

...aargh, I could just shout right now, I just finished watching this couple of minutes ago!! What happened to the ending, did the production suddenly ran out of money or was it a personal joke by the director/producer !?!
So, I´m looking forward to the sequel, which I hope will happen. And I really enjoyed the location, very beautiful. About the plot, I didn´t find the lead character very convincing, because he wasn´t really scared until right at the end...8/10 stars.

Yeah the ending annoyed me as well. I wonder what the director hoped the ending would be?

I also love that the masc guy was the bottom. It's so rare to see that

I understand the frustration ^ with the end, but I thought it had to be.

The film isn't only about a series of events, but about ideas of desire and fear. It sustains an atmosphere of mystery throughout indicating such.

In my viewing, the end of the film evokes the heart of that mystery perfectly, as circumstances reveal their inner nature.
