No, that's where you're bitten to be FED ON by a vampire. They only have to take about a pint a day, you know. You can be a "vessel" (or if you know what's going on and have given your consent, a "donor") for years, though a careful vampire won't feed from you more than once every few months, unless you're really huge (being fat won't help; it's blood volume that counts).

But to make you a vampire they have to drain you completely, then make you drink some of THEIR blood. Then you have three days of absolute agony to go through, as your internal organs shut down and new pathways grow in your skull. Your teeth have to change, of course, and THAT will feel like someone is pounding nails into both cheekbones, for hours and hours.

No responsible vampire will do this without your consent, or without explaining thoroughly what it will mean. Some won't do it at all, since they want to protect humans from becoming vampires. Others won't do it because they understand predator/prey ratios and don't want to increase the competition.

The thing is, you could know someone who's a vampire and have no idea. Despite what I said above, crosses and garlic have no effect; vampires can even go out in the sun briefly, though it's painful and unhealthy for them. They can eat human food (though not digest it), and otherwise behave exactly like humans. Even if they take from you, you may not be aware of it, because they make tiny wounds that heal quickly, and introduce a chemical during feeding that causes short-term amnesia. The aftereffects are usually dismissed as hangover or a bad cold.

Not that I have firsthand knowledge or anything.

^which lore are you referencing for all of this, or are you combining lots of different sources? I'm just curious. I can think of a few movies alone that have different views on what vampires are/do/etc. so I'm wondering which version that is that your're talking about.


I also remembered another strange compliment I once got. I was in drag for part of a show once and my mother told me that she didn't recognize me until she saw my legs, then she knew it was me. "You have better legs than I do," she said. Oy.

It was a long time ago though, so don't hold it against me.

I was in the sixth grade and I had a bit of a crush on my teacher.......I told her she had the whitest teeth I'd ever seen.......I told her they looked like 'chiclets'!. WTF was I thinking?

She just looked at me.....awkward !

I once did a show where I had to wear fishnets. Afterwards, the drama group had a Q&A session that was meant for people who were interested in joining the group. Instead, it ended up being a "Damn, how did you get such nice legs?" session.

And on another occasion, I was told that I have a voice that would be very well-suited for books on tape.
