Street Art not funded by local residents is Vandalism [SPLIT]

But it does matter that that "art" must be approved by the council first before it is painted up our walls.

Anyone can pick up their own shit and smear it up the wall if they wanted to and call it "art" just so they have an excuse if are caught by the police but the police will still be talking the culprit to court if caught.

If you want to whinge about graffiti, go to your local council. I think it's abundantly clear that nobody here really cares about your infantile grumblings.

##22 You aren't, but do you see what i'm getting at here?

There is a reason why it's illegal.

I don't promote criminal activity and I do not like it when chavs pretend to create art up the streets. It is criminal. :##:

The police have enough to deal with without searching for amateur artists.

They don't even ask permission to impose this mess on us.:##:

Actually it's a pretty well executed abstract painting.;) If it were not on the street it could be in a modern art museum or gallery.

Would you buy this 'pretty well executed abstract painting'?

What does it say to you?

My statement stands.
Your statement is turning a blind eye. What about all those innocent neighbours who need to make a statement at the police station?

I'm 63 years old. Graffiti has been around for longer than I have been alive. Nobody has ever asked permission that I know of.

You've been posting 'graffiti'.

This is 'vandalism':

This vandal was not so sophisticated. He only used TWO acrylic spray paint cans to express himself

You can take a bus tour in Belfast and enjoy the street art, i'm pretty sure a lot of people would gladly pay for stuff like this.

IRELAND-BelfastWall-1.jpg

This is an interesting picture.

First, I'm not convinced that it's anything more than a Ps presentation of an idea – it doesn't exist.

Even if it is real, though, it is on an overlay of some sort – a smooth removable surface – with no permanent damage done to the brick face that would destroy the property value.

The image, as it appears here, is scaled down to fit the web page. But, even without zooming in full scale, you can see the edge of the removable signboard along the left side where the surveillance camera is mounted. The property owner knew better than to let someone make a mess of the bricks.

All that aside, it's quite hideous.

And what is this? What kind of "art" is this?

Since "art" is no linger expected to be attractive or to require skill, it is a meaningless concept. I think art lost its compass after the invention of photography, and the need for accuracy and skill became less important.

Graffiti is the only written record of vernacular language from the ancient world, and a rich insight into daily life in those times.

If someone decided to put grafitti on the local bus stop windows they are vandalizing.

I would have thought that given that he sprayed KKK...that you would have given him a 'pass'.
