Not really sure. When I went to this chub/bear pool party I saw this guy with really really visible stretch marks, within time they will slowly disappear from view, but there will always be there, my stretch marks are always going to be there on my stomach. They don't even bother me.

yeah i know they'll always be there... i just hate going to the beach or something and having my little sister being like "what's those scars on your tummy?" and i'm like "I'M FAT OK?!..." lol and i just wanna avoid that situation... but i'll try to coconut oil thing... my friend said he did it... and you can't really see his at all... but he also gets a lot more sun than me... so i'm sure he just kinda tanned into them... who knows..

Maybe you should lose weight if it's a huge problem for you. Many people who consider themselves to be "Fat" will try everything in their power to lose weight. Me I would be happy to be at 225, I like being BIG because my boyfriend likes just the way I am, but I don't want to gain too much weight due to diabetes.

oh yeah... i've been losing weight actually... used to be 300... down to about 280ish... so it HAS gotten better... the marks are a lot less visible/red... but yeah that's great advice :)... it's just always been something i've been self conscious about since i was in elementary school... kids can be so mean ... so i guess it'll just have to be something i need to get over since i really shouldn't care what other people think :)

I've come to learn that the most acceptable community for Chubby guys like us is the bear community and chub community. They never judge you for your weight. Well some do because they either want a super chub or a twink.

But you should lose the weight so you can feel better about yourself. If other people have a problem with your stretch marks it's THEIR problem not yours. Me I do have stretch marks, but I don't let it bother me, I have other problems I'm usually worried about on my body.

Here are some things my physician told me:

Stretch marks from weight gain will eventually fade with time, though applying shea butter almost constantly or medical scar creams like Mederma will work after several several months to a year.

However, weight loss will also make them less visible. ith time they go from dark red/purple to dark brown to skin colored.

There are actually many dermatological creams that are made to help decrease the visibility of stretch marks. Ask your dermatologist what can be done and I'm sure you'll be smothered in options (including removal if you want them gone forever). As far as weight gain and loss, both can be hard on your skin. Oftentimes folks who lose a lot of weight have excess skin and many opt to have it surgically removed. I for one have stretch marks on the inside of my thighs and have not yet tried to get rid of them myself, but be sure to share if you have any success!

I wonder if tanning doesn't turn out to be counter productive in the long run, possibly discolouring or causing a loss of elasticity?

I would say just leave them alone that's what I did and they naturally blended in with my skin color.

Stretch marks are type of scar tissue that forms in the skin once its been expanded past a certain point. On fresh (purple, red, blueish) marks topical creams ( I've been told that anything of than topical retinoids is a waste of time) can help lessen their appearance but once they take on a silvery/white color you're kinda stuck.

I would suggest seeing a plastic surgeon or cosmetic dermatologist who does lots of laser work, they would have access to a large arsenal of lasers to help treat a bevy of stretch mark concerns. ( the red/purple kind need one type of laser while the silver/white are best treated with another type/) Luckily for me i have a dermatologist in my family so I was able to get them lasered and topical peels applied right away to prevent them from becoming permanent.

The best bet is prevention. She has me use a vitamin-k and e cream in a shea butter base. It works really well, I've added a few more inches to my biceps and using the cream i haven't had any stretch marks return.

best of luck
