Strong ass smell while topping

Ok well this is something to note because the other day while topping a guy I got the strong whiff of bowel/ass coming up. At first it didn't bother me but then after a while I just lost my excitement and the hardon went with it. I didn't feel comfortable telling him about it but I noticed when I pulled out there was nothing on the condom (yes safe sex was employed) so no indication he needed to have a bowel movement.
But maybe this indicates a real health concern and I should have mentioned it to him anyway?
It was really quite strong because normally in the past when I have topped I really don't get anything beyond some body odour or smell of lube. We have been in contact since and he wants to meet me for lunch and try something social not just hookup so I may get my chance to tell him about it (but not over lunch of course!)
 
I think the smell might be from medication?
He might took hiv+ medication?

Ask him if he took any medication and what for.
 
The human body smells. We bathe, apply chemicals, apply scents to cover it but there will still be smells. What sometimes can happen is that air gets trapped in the rectum from the piston effect during anal sex. That air finds its way out and it brings normal odor with it.

If there was no stool on the condom, then more than likely it was expelled air that you smelled.
 
I think that's quite a far fetched suggestion (HIV medication), and one that might get the OP worked up for no reason (despite their being no risk due to the condom).

Like the previous poster, it is likely just air coming up (every body is different) and not due to a condition.

Try to be respectful when bringing this up and DON'T alarm him and make him think he's sick!

Well he said he was HIV negative as of a very recent test and anyway I employed safe sex so I'm not worried about that so much. More concerned about his health otherwise. I'm sure there are a bunch of things that can cause bad smell besides hiv meds. Maybe he has Chron's disease or ulcerative colitis or IBD? I have seen him since but can't bring myself to discuss it. Well maybe it's just a one off occurence and if we get together again it won't happen again. But I'm not sure I want to be intimate with him after that either. Odd that smell would put one off so much but that's the way I feel. It just ruined any possible intimacy.
 
If it wouldn't be too awkward I'd bring it up. Perhaps it would help him with his future dates...
 
Could also be by what he eats and drinks. Most likely, actually.
