study indicates full moon really does affect us

We've had 3 supermoons so far this year. I wonder if the statistics reflect them. Do crazy 'full moon' people get even crazier?

i used to work at a bar with an interesting clientele... ranging from artistic types to completely loony tunes. whenever there was an incident, any kind of incident, certain colleagues would blame the moon. its full moon! its new moon! its almost full moon! etc. i got the impression theres no truth to it. shit just goes down sometimes, and some people feel better if there is an explanation.

The effects if any from a full moon are less this year then even 25 or 200 yrs ago. The moon is pulling away from the earth at about 1.6" (4 cm) a yr. Maybe there were some wild times when some of these myths started about a bigger full moon centuries ago?

There is no magical or supernatural link to the full moon and strange behavior. There is a link between brain chemistry and gravitational pull (including that of the moon, especially when full), and it affects people differently. Many show little to no outward sign of change. But some such as elderly or mentally ill (as GDSX pointed out) can show greater signs of affect. My guess is that their minds are more susceptible to the pull of gravity. There is also a psychological effect, as others have pointed to with evidence of increased activity for police ER doctors to deal with. As far as I know there have been no actual scientific studies on this subject. There are those who have claimed to study it, but - as the OP has suggested - they were too closed minded to search for the truth...... They just wanted to find evidence to support their opinions. That is what science has become these days.

That's an interesting article. The outcome of the study is not surprising at all, as, like some people already mentioned, the effects of the full moon on people's behavior have been known for ages.

It is well known that humans have a circadian rhythm, that influences many processes in our body depending on the time of day. Many organisms also have annual rhythms and others (such as many marine animals) have lunar rhythms. It's very possible that humans have a lunar rhythm as well, but it just has not scientifically been 'recognized' yet.

There is this affliction out there that some liken to werewolves, both because it involves the full moon and because it turns them into beasts. It is a mental disorder that causes them, when they are shown a full moon, to uncontrollably need to fuck the crack in it. Anybody else hear of this? I am afflicted with a limited form of this curse, only my partner's moon causes the fucklust to emerge.

But when it does I am "a beast" (his words, not mine).
