12 is a little young, 4 is DEFINATELY far too young, but Im not so sure about the 14 year old. Pot, to me, is a less harmful drug than alchohol. I think current marijuana laws are an evil joke. I don't think usage of pot is risk-free, but I think society is largely ignorant of the true risks from pot usage, because of the suppression of information available, (ie, it is largely illegal to use marijuana in the u.s.) someone mentioned sinuses; that's a good start. pot can aggravate depression. it can sap will and ambition. it can relieve pain of arthritis and glaucoma. it can stimulate appetite in patients under going chemotherapy, wasting sickness (AIDS treatment) or Hep C treatment.
Oh, wait those aren't all risks.
I'm not even going to get into what the first american flag was made of, what the declaration of independence (sorry brits) was penned on, what dungarees were originally made of, or william randolf hearst and timber investments and the timeline of the development of different pulp fiber processing technologies and yellow journalism and the business of running a newspaper. I'd hope most of you would know this stuff
A personally and frequently observed side-affect of alchohol consumption is loud belligerence and seemingly genial but deeply anti-social behavior. Not so with marijuana.
I have heard that in other countries children frequently have watered-down wine with dinner. At least they're not putting tar and crud into their lungs.
No, what really gets me about this darn thread is the reaction, "OMG I can't believe that the police actually took those people's kids away from them for that!" Is totally absent from this discussion. I thought we had some parents in here. The kids weren't being punished! Unless they were smoking out their 4 year old, we have fairly well devloped brainpans here. It's certainly better than smoking out their kids whether or not they were horrible monsters or decent human beings.
