Ohh, and I thought that Islamic terrorism was just an invention of the Bush administration "to invade innocent countries."

RIP to the victims, just a sober reminder that AQ and the rest of them are a real threat and the forgotten war aka war in Afghanistan is getting very serious because of Pakistan's safe havens to these terrorists.

Then you should thank Obama for pushing the administration into ramping-up our operations against al Qaida in Afghanistan (at long last). He's been calling for it for a looong time.

Well, if a Foreign Government is coming into your country and bombing targets, wouldn't you expect a response?

With that being said, with Musharaaf gone, this is an opportunity to go in and get Bin Laden. Although whether he is finally captured remains to be seen. I personally think the man is dead, but time will tell.

Yet the phrase "Islamic Terrorist" was not once uttered during the entire Democrat Convention. Hmmm... Could it be because Hammas, et al, support Obama?

Maybe it's because Democrats don't use the fear card as freely as Republicans. Republicans are free to hate and fear all they want. It's a great way to bring out the bleating masses.

Of course they want to associate themselves with Obama, Vannie. They're afraid he understands them better. And they know by the association they damage his chances. They're Islamic, not imbeciles.

Besides, G-Dub has been their greatest membership incentive! McCain would continue in the same capacity!

And again, I agree with you jav. Hate, fear, intolerance, etc are HUMAN flaws, and are only political flaws because humans are doing the politicking. It is weakness not to see it within ourselves, and it takes a spectacularly good person to ignore or approach them rationally. I try, but don't think I do that good, lol.

Honestly though jav, you have to admit that the Republicans, most especially those who are in key positions, use the "Islamic Terrorist" or "War on terror" or *snigger* "terrorizors" or w/e other words or phrases they spit out. Then there's the terror alert system, which if I remember hearing that it will NEVER go to Blue or Green.

Democrats do their share of fear mongering.

I completely agree jav.

Republicans use fear of terrorists while the dems use economic fears to scare up some votes.

I can't say I think much of either tactic. :(

Maybe the Republicans could learn from that. They could stop dumping our money down that black hole called the "war on terror" in Iraq, and start paying attention to the REAL problem. . . to borrow a phrase: "it's the economy, stupid." Doesn't take a scientist to figure THAT out. Just look at Wall Street. Look at the skyrocketing deficit. Look at property values. Look at inflation. Look at unemployment.

Yeah. . . Democrats are just tryin' ta scare the bejeebus outta everyone. Republicans like to proclaim themselves "fiscal conservatives" when they are not, and haven't been for decades.

But back to the topic, it seems the target of the bomb was the new Prime Minister. This could very well have been purely political and pulled-off with the recruitment of a shmoe who was convinced he'd be a martyr.

I don't know what a snigger torrorizor is.

I don't have an issue with "Islamic Terrorist" because that is what they are. They're not fighting for freedom or seeking to liberate anyone. They simply want to kill what they consider sinful. Is it thrown around a lot? Perhaps but to chalk it all up to fear-mongering is simply being partisan. We were bombed so it's not like claiming aliens will land and kill us.

Democrats do their share of fear mongering. I recall James Carvell once yelling, "George Bush wants to kill our babies!" There's plenty of other rhetoric on CE&P.

My point is everyone wants the country to come together....on their side. Thus, we stay divided. That's bad enough but hurling outlandish accusations is petty. There's plenty of disagreement on issues without stooping to schoolyard antics.

For the terrorizor thing, I was referring to how Bush referred(or still refers) to terrorists, the snigger was just an added touch, although shoulda added a ;) instead.

You guys were bombed, yes, and people are sick of hearing about it.

Yes, it was a horrible disaster, yes, a lot of good people died.

But there have been worse man-made disasters, like the genocide in Rwanda(which the US conveniently refused to call a genocide until after the problem was solved) and natural ( Hurricane Katrina, which a CANADIAN vessel was the first to arrive to provide aid) that have caused worse destruction and death. But because it was a purposeful attack on American soil, we have to hear about it every few fucking days. All Giuliani will talk about is 9/11, and if he had his way, some kind of story about it would be on every night on the 6 o'clock news.

And by the way, your genius president had information about the attacks beforehand, but either failed to realize that they were truly serious, or wanted them to because it would provide him with a shot at Iraq.
(sorry for the rant, am just very opinionated on this subject)

The point is, that things such as 9/11 are brought up often, to try to instill fear in the American public to continue to support their un-democratic bills, laws, and policies. Yes, the Democrats use economic terror, and it often works, but the Republicans spread the fear of more terrorist attacks from outside influences, even though there are far worse things going on in their own country that they should be focusing on, such as the unemployment/homeless problem, as well as the total control of gangs and mafia/mobs in some cites.

And by the way.. If you didn't want 9/11 to happen, maybe your government shouldn't have left Al'Queada high and dry after THEY fought against the Russian invasion of Afghanistan for the US, who knows, maybe Bin Ladin and Bush might have actually gotten to like each other, hell, they both have far right religious policies.

As the Prime Minister wasn't killed, hopefully the organization(or whomever is behind it) will either get the picture and not try again(unlikely) or will be stopped before they do this again.
