  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Summers suck when you're fat and too poor to use the air conditioning all day*...

this thread is about poor fat guys
fat guys are poor because they spend their money on food
that is why fat guys are poor

Not a very entertaining thread...

Instead of toilet paper, use flushable toilet wipes.

Stop eating bread, pasta, rice, junk food of any type. No soda, booze in moderation is ok. If you do eat bread, pasta or rice, make sure it isn't white, i.e. whole grains. But best to cut it out of your diet as much as possible.

Let's not forget about sugar. Sugar is your enemy. Avoid sugar and foods with sugar in them. Just read the label.

AWP, you paint a vivid picture. I bet you could write some great stories.

Wow. I wasn't expecting all that from the thread title.

TMI.

lol

:rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao:

Btw...TMI, or BEST THREAD EVER?

Jesus Christ dude...you're lucky I'm not a big morning eater.

Ya know what though? I FUCKIN' FEEL YOU, man. That was so me, like 3 or 4 years ago, and yes, it's the worst!!!

Lol, I can't believe you made this thread, man. Gonna be chucklin' over this shit all day...

basically the difference between white and whole grain products is that the white stuff (bread, pasta, rice, etc) has a high glycemic index, which means it gives you a quick burst of energy and not a slow burning source of energy - you don't spend all this energy you get from the white stuff that breaks down quickly, and you get hungry faster as well. Brown rice, whole grain bread and whole grain pasta have a low glycemic index, breaking down slowly and giving you energy for a while and keeping you full longer/keeping your calorie intake lower.

So basically the key to losing weight is the calorie count - reduce your calorie intake by 500 cals a day from the cal intake you need to maintain your weight, and you will lose a pound a week. Consuming whole grain products makes this goal easier because they have more nutritional value for the calories they pack and and keep you full and energized longer so you eat less!

Thanks for the educational info from this silly thread.
I like it. :D

Wow! This thread turned out to be more educational than I expected. Thank you all for the great health info and advice. I'll keep it in mind and see what I can do with it. :)

I know.

Maybe some time in the future, but for now, I'll try out my oscillating fan.

I've actually dabbled in screenwriting before, but lately, I've been suffering a case of writer's block/laze. Everything I've written so far is unfinished and in rewrite hell.

Finally, someone can relate. I'm glad you got a good laugh out of it, and congratulations on your weight loss (if I gather correctly). ..|

Dropped nearly 100lbs in a little over a year. Get a regular walking routine going. You'd be amazed how da weight starts 2 drop. Watch dem hataz though. Once I started really slimming down, peeps was swearing up & down that I was "on that stuff"...hataz man. I DID go from like 250+ at my heaviest, to 180. But I SWEAR it was just hard work & walking.

...especially while taking a shit. Not only do you sweat like a pig in a sauna, with it dripping out from in between your rolls, folds, and deep crevices, but the moisture in your butt crack soaks the toilet paper as you wipe, causing it to break easily and make you accidentally touch the shit and/or give you shitty toilet paper dingleberries as the little wet fragments roll off while wiping. Shitting and wiping in general seems to take a lot more effort than usual during the hot, humid summer than any other time of the year, and for some reason, my shit tends to be pastier and harder to wipe off too (regardless of my diet, which has been fairly balanced lately). Then, on top of that, the toilet seat gets drenched in my butt and thigh sweat, causing me to have to wipe it down with wet wipes every time I sit on it. The whole process of shitting/wiping takes almost twice as long as usual and leaves me feeling so filthy that I need a shower afterwards. It's such a fucking hassle. I've been hitting the ellyptical lately though, so hopefully the eventual weight loss will help solve some of these problems.

*I only use the air conditioning at night when it's the cheapest.

Do any other poor fat guys here have the same problem in the summer? Any advice, perhaps?

Yes to your question...

And I tend not to stay in my app. when it's too stuffy! I seek the place with AC, like library (with wifi, preferably) and shopping center... And there is a pool near my place that is free, so I go there a lot too, even if it means mean stare by some spring chickens and shrimps (aka ephebe and twinks)!

That's awesome, hun. I think I knew you had lost some weight--but I didn't know it was that much.

Congrats!

I want to lose a good ten pounds or so soon. I'm going to start walking about two miles a couple times a week and see how long it takes me to reach that goal. :D Last summer, I lost 15 pounds in three weeks, but I damned near had to starve myself by eating only yucky veggies lol.

Losing 15 pounds in three weeks is a pretty pointless endeavor...your body protests at a 5lb/week rate of loss and you gain it all back (and more, possibly) pretty soon after you get off whatever diet caused you to lose so fast. It's just not a healthy rate.

I want to lose a good ten pounds or so soon.

I just want to share with you what I have been doing to lose weight. I have been dieting since February and have lost 25 pounds, an average of eight pounds a month.

I have greatly reduced the amount of sugar I consume, still drink my sweet tea for supper though.

Drink water or green tea the rest of the time.

Eat breakfast, but not cereal. I drink an Atkins protein shake. Increased the amount of proteins I consumed too.

Gave up processed foods and eat natural foods instead. Switched to real cheese instead of Kraft Singles.

Switched to whole grain bread instead of white bread.

Eat real beef, chicken and fish.

Eat every three to four hours. A piece of fruit, a bowl of coleslaw with a balsamic vinaigrette instead of mayonnaise or a protein bar.

Limited my daily caloric intake to around 1200-1500.

I have plenty to eat. Not starving at all.

I hope this helps.

I'm not fat or poor but my advice would be:

1. Cut back on eating so your not so fat and save the money on junk food.

2. Be less poor. Get a Saturday afternoon job. :)

I'm living on a second floor apartment with southern exposure and no AC.

On really hot days, I have found that getting a large, lightweight teeshirt wet, wringing it out and slipping it on works wonders on cooling down. If you have a fan you can point at yourself when you're working at your computer or have it blow across the bed on those REALLY hot nights, it evaporates the water out of the shirt and really feels nice and it's usually enough to get me to be able to sleep.

Also, using the damp teeshirt is the best way to keep your skin from peeling, if you've gone and burned yourself in the sun. The trick there is to keep the skin moist, so if you put a thin coat of cold cream on before the shirt, it really does the trick.

As far as one's toilet, when it's really hella hot and I've had a shit explosion, or have terminal swamp-ass, I never hesitate to take a quick jump in the shower. It just feels nicer afterwards..

I'm not sure I understood correctly. Do you mean sweating in the t-shirt while you wear it and wringing the sweat out, or getting it wet with cold water? If you mean the latter, I'll try that.

I keep my fan on 24/7 in the summer, and it's always pointed at me wherever I am, but I always sleep with the fan blowing on me, no matter what time of the year it is. It helps me sleep without getting too hot and sweaty, which happens easily during any season for some reason. Plus, the noise of it helps me sleep. It's hard to explain, but I like the "ambiance", if that makes any sense.

I rarely get sunburned so I've never needed sunscreen, but I'll keep that in mind. My skin is usually pretty moist anyway just by glistening with sweat.

LOL...swamp ass! :rotflmao: Good slang. Yeah, I agree, it always feels nicer when you take a shower afterwards. It's part of my normal shitting routine in the summer.

Cold, fresh water and wring out the teeshirt so it's not dripping wet.

It makes perfect sense to have the noise. I've got tinnitis so a fan or any sound that isn't the high-pitched ringing keeps me sane..

LOL! Got that slang from a 15 year old! Happened to perfectly fit the condition. :D

Deb.

.. Any advice, perhaps?

Get black out curtains for your windows, if you keep the sun out the apartment will stay cooler. I am lucky that my current apartment does not get much direct sunlight. This way it stays cool, I am in Florida and I can just keep the ceiling fan on all day and use the AC only sporadically (and always while I sleep) and it's not hot inside.
