So it is officially summer in the northern hemisphere. And boy is it relentlessly sunny these days.

This year I am developing a farmer's tan...my arms are brown from working out in the sun and although I try to wear a broad brimmed hat while I am outdoors, I am still getting colour on my neck and head, even with short exposure....having had a couple of basal cell cancers removed, I no longer seek out the sun and just roast for hours like I did when I was young.

Do you expose yourself to the sun?

Or do you wear a burkha?

I have a gardening tan on my arms and face only now.

Throughout my 20s I went to Hawaii every year at least once and turned dark brown and in my 30s I did the same at beaches but I saw some of my fellow tanners looking like leatherface and I stopped tanning intentionally all together.

Now it is just when I work or shop outside.

I was never much for lying on the beach or by a pool to get tan, but I swam competitively, surfed and was out in the sun enough that my hair bleached blond for half of the year. When I was in my early 20s I developed a couple of precancerous skin lesions that needed to be removed and after that I started using sun blocks year round, and look
a decade younger than fellow surfers I still know who've continued to stay in the sun all these years and look like hell. All that said, in my parallel life as an escort an even faint Speedo tan line was universally considered a plus and a selling point, so I've never entirely abandoned the sun. (Tan lines on the right body + + +) I should add however that now with Covid and the apparent importance of vitamin D, I'm now walking shirtless no sunscreen daily at UCLA.

Long sleeve sun shirts, gloves and a Panama hat - - when I'm not able to hide under the trees.

To a freckled ginger, the sun is just a big relentless bully that's best avoided.

I've been too busy with work this year to spend any time in the sun, so I'm quite white. I'm very careful about putting sunscreen on when I do go out though; I've been burned quite bad in the past.

The story of my life. Most of my vacations, when I take one, are at or near the beach as well a pool. I'm under a palm, I've rented an umbrella or chair with a cover, and have even bought an umbrella while there. The sun is not kind to us.

I burn if I look out the window. I get a tan by the end of the year when all my freckles connect.

Not unless i'm on holiday.

Being mixed race i can get a tan in about 10 minutes.

as a Pagan I LITERALLY worship the elements - planets - moon and sun - and the Gods who rule them - but as a human I avoid the sun as much as possible - to fierce for me...

When I was in my 30's I sometimes sunbathed, but usually not long enough to get dangerously burned, just somewhat darker. When I was younger sometimes my hair would get lighter on top. Then some time in my 50's instead of getting blond on top, it turned copper on top which confused the daylights out of me. Now my hair is mostly grey. I usually don't spend much time outside unless I am working in the yard or on vacation. Now my arms and face get darker but I am usually dressed otherwise and don't think about using any sun block.

sun worshiper ---makes me feel good and I get an amazing tan---will spend 20 min in the morning and have my coffee out on the deck---need my Vitamin D.8-)

I had a greasy complexion when I was younger which contributed to my acne, but probably helped slow down the aging of my skin.
