I get burned everytime i go out into the sun really bad and never get a tan, i just peel! also how can i get a tan instead of burning!?

how pale are you naturally? Some people just can't tan. You may have to just face that fact.

I am as white as most of my friends (the ones who are white) and they tan, so does it just take a couple of times of getting burnt i mean my friends look just like i do right now but i have seen them tanned!

what do ya mean cause i am a normal white and i used sun screen and i only laid out for about a half hour and i dont get out in the sun often!

Some people just don't have the sort of complexion that tans, especially those with blond/light brown hair or blue/green eyes. There's nothing you can do about it, but tanning really isn't good for you, anyway.

Just look at it this way: If you continue staying out of the sun and using sunblock then you won't be stuck with the same wrinkles, moles and freckles that your friends will have 20 years from now (not to mention the possibility of skin cancer).

I'm blond with blue eyes and I also burn and peel. I was out on the boat yesterday and tried to stay out of the sun as best as I could. I put on sunblock twice and I still got burned. You might say I have a nice farmer's tan goin on because my arms are tan but my chest is white as a ghost. (My friends all call me Casper the friendly ghost because I'm so white) Since I don't tan very well, I try to stay out of the sun as best as I can but I also love to go boating. It's just a fact of life that I have to deal with. Where's the aloe.........

shit looks like i wont tan any time soon cause i have durty blond hair and blueish green eyes and you are right now i wont get the wrinckles and stuff, so are spray tans bad too or are they fine to get?

Spray tans are safe, but you have to choose your salon carefully, because how the "tan" looks after it's applied is dependent on the salon. My one girl friend went to a salon, and after three sessions, the tan was "orangey". A classmate of mine also had a spray tan done... And it turned out splochy. Just remember to do the following before the tan: Shower, Exfoliate, and moisturize. The shower is obvious - it'll get rid of the dirt; exfoliation gets rid of all the dead skin cells, and allows for a deeper penetration of the tanning solution to get in; and moisturizing helps the skin look more radiant and healthier.

I have a red head's skin, so I know how you feel. I usually just a very light tan, so I don't even bother with trying to tan anymore. If it happens, it happens.

Pale skinned people often don't tan, and even if they do,it's not really good for them. A very dear friend of mine died of melanoma a few years ago and I still miss him. He was also the kind of guy who would burn and peel. Please don't try to get a tan if it costs you your health.

Im pale. Last summer I went to St Kilda beach, and 'tanned' for like 6 hours
By the end of it I was really red, but I thought 'hey, that just means my tan will be darker'...wrong!
I went home, couldnt sleep kept getting hot flushes and stuff
Next day I could hardly move
Next few days I blistered on my chest/stomach, and everytime I moved it hurt - had to put bandages around a lot of my body
Stayed like that for about another 5 days, then started peeling - skin was everywhere (I know how gross) lol
In the end, the sun penetrated my skin deep enough to give me a tan, but it was NOT worth all the pain
Go fake, if you dont wanna spray, even the solarium - much safer

One word....Ouch!

Some people just can't tan and you can't compare yourself to your friends cause we are all different. I only date really white pale guys(it's my type) and I tan so easy. I get really really dark. But the guys i have dated can only stay out with me for 15 minutes cause they burn so bad and it never turns tan only red. The type of skin that does that has a higher chance of skin cancer. The spray tans will probably not look good either cause they are so unnatural looking. I have tried to spray tan and it's night and day from a real tan. You might just have to be happy being pale. And there are plenty of guys(like me) who love that in a guy.Infact almost all the guys I have dated seem to have been called casper growing up. LOL

I don't tan well either. L'Oreal Sublime glow is the best I've run across. It was also rated best by Consumer Reports recent testing. It is a moisturizer also. I used to use Nutrogena which I think is good but the L'Oreal does not have that strong tanning lotion smell so it's my new favorite.

When I work in shorts during the summer I'd usually get razzed about my white legs before I'd start using the tanning lotions. I have a great comeback which is. "You should have seen them before I got a tan!"
