Suns to wear 'Los Suns' uniforms to honor Phoenix's Latino community

BADgreek that is the question that I have been asking all day on JUB and know of the Right Wing folk seem to be able to come up with an answer at all other than pretend they do not see the question.

I may not live in Arizona, but I do travel through there quiet a bit, and do have business there, and I am not all that far from the Arizona border anyhow. And, when the law past a few people interviewed by the local news applauded the effort that Arizona under took.

It is impossible to enforce, it is impossible not to base it on anything other than skin color.

Hey, just look at the comments made about the Los Suns Jersey.

I don't see what this has to do with anything, honestly. The state has been considered part of America and subject to its laws for quite some time, now. Making historical arguments like this doesn't make sense.
Yes, and many of those Latinos living in Arizona have been US citizens from birth, as have their parents, grandparents, etc. My point was that Latino does not necessarily equate to illegal, as Jack Springer was suggesting.

Dude - I never said or implied that being latino or hispanic equated to being illegal.

You owe me an apology.

You evidently don't understand the meaning of illegal. Expand your reading and watching beyond The Huffington Post, MSNBC, KOS, and other blogs.

I suppose if your house was being broken into or invaded by people you didn't invite - you'd offer them food, shelter, pay for their doctor bills, and insist that their names be added to your house and car titles?

Nobody owes you jack shit. You implied it. You're happy to ignore the fact that lots of US citizens will be harassed under this law, despite having it pointed out over and over.

The law treats every brown, Spanish-speaking person as suspect of being illegal, and directs law enforcement to check their papers. You're acting like its ONLY effect is to get rid of illegal aliens, even though you know (or should know by now) that that isn't true.

*I* suspect that you do know that, and that you're OK with it. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong (or even if you just want to deny it), but I won't apologize.

The police have to have cause to require someone to prove their US citizenship. Because of the huge outcry police officers will be very careful.

When I've gotten pulled over for speeding, I have to prove that I'm a licensed driver, own the car, and have sufficient insurance. I know have to carry a passport to travel anywhere outside the USA.

If we all had to carry Passport's - would you have any problem with this law?

They've been wearing these jerseys a few games in the past.

It's only news cause of the AZ illegal immigration debate.

Funny, I thought you people support persons that have not been convicted of crimes can carry weapons wherever they want.

If it's ok for people on terror watch lists to keep guns, why not thugs?

And we have a drug problem because of our moral crusader mentality in the USA. End the War on Drugs and regulate these drugs so we can at least eliminate those killings in northern Mexico.

"you people" LOL

do you enjoy being this dumb?

see post 34

is your creativity too limited to understand that, just because the law says "do not racially profile" that racial profiling will still happen?

the sole reason for this law's existence is for the mexicans in arizona illegally. the only way non-mexican heritaged people can suspect illegal status is skin color.

so, the only way to enforce the law is through racial profiling.

Thanks for trying, but it won't work. They've made up their minds and will never change them. This law means exactly what it says, and will have only desired effects and intended consequences.

Meanwhile, health care reform will kill your grandmother, regulating banks is the same as bailing them out, and Obama is to blame for the recession that started before he was elected.

It's no use. If their minds were parachutes they'd all plummet to the Earth and be smashed to bits.

any law can be abused if not followed as written

Críostóir is complaining about the way he thinks the law is written instead of the way it is written

So without skin color and accents, what would tip off police officers that they may be talking to an illegal?

What would give cause to ask for papers?

the difference here is that other laws are written to apply to a everyone equally.

this law's unintended necessity is racial profiling; because there is no other way for this law to be enforced.

read the link in post 34

i'm starting to think that you didn't even read it:

HB 2162 bars race from being considered when deciding whether to inquire about a person's status, "except to the extent permitted by the United States or Arizona Constitution."

without racial profiling; the only way for a cop to enforce this law is to require everyone to prove his or her legal status.

that's the sort of gestapo-like practices should offend any american's sentimentality.

okay

so you rather argue against and be mad about something that doesnt exist

at least be informed but whatever

I am informed and I’m not mad. Race being used is common sense. You’d whether obfuscate the issue though than admit it.

If this law was about anything other than race it would have been wrote in such a way as to get people to stop coming here and to go home.

Man, I've had RRB on Ignore for a while now, but it doesn't work if you keep quoting him!

Seriously, he's an output-only device. You're shouting down a well.

cool

so what is your solution or answer to the new thread in post 54

If a thread doesn’t interest me to read it when I see it, I’m surely not going to read just because someone wants me too.

Besides I didn’t post this because of the law. I posted it because I like that people were standing up for what they believe in and putting their name on the issue.

If you only listen to what you agree with - why are you even here?

One of the biggest lies of liberalism is that liberals have an open mind and welcome new ideas.
