Re: Supernatural's back, baby!

Of all the female guest stars from Dean's past she didnt really stand out to me, in looks or personality. The only girl who seemed to stand out from Dean's past was Anna. I dont like what they ended up doing to her character.

I didnt expect a huge biblical blowout b/c Supernatural has never had a huge budget. But it could have been a bit different. How much of waste of time was Sam/Satan killing those random demons from his past? That was so stupid.

Personally, I always figured that Dean would go back to Cassie. It seemed that their relationship was much more involved than Dean's fling with Lisa.

As for the final battle, that was really where I felt let down. I at least wanted to see Lucifer and Michael land a couple of blows on one another. But, what's done is done. I didn't think the scene with Sam/Lucifer and the demons was stupid. It was supposed to act as a ploy to get Sam to give in to his darker, wrathful, side. And it worked.

Re: Supernatural's back, baby!

the finale was satisfying to me but just not fulfilling. I think the writers knew that many people wouldn't like it which is why they included the dialog stating so.

One thing that struck me as odd was Castiel's timidness with Lucifer. In the past and when he's on his suicidal missions he's been fearless. It was so out of character to see him afraid of Lucifer especially when he was anything but when they last met.

I don't know if it's the actor or if the writers intended it but Michael was so much more whiney than his last appearance. In The Song Remains The Same, he carried himself so confidently and as someone's pointed out, you could buy him being the second most powerful being in heaven. Maybe instead of bringing Adam back they should've gone with pulling in past John and having the same actor reprise his portrayal of Michael.

I'm also bummed they didn't do anything more with the character of Death. He was so intriguing last week I was hoping we'd see him again. Maybe in season six though it seems unlikely.

Re: Supernatural's back, baby!

I think Castiel was timid with Lucifer and Michael because he had lost his powers at that point and was pretty much human. I hope he is back next season. he is loved by fans and he and Dean have great chemistry together.

Re: Supernatural's back, baby!

One thing people seem to be forgetting, this was suppose to be the last season. I think after the CW green-lit season 6 the writer's had to tweak the finale a bit.

Re: Supernatural's back, baby!

I have to wonder if the creative team perhaps would've prefered John being Michael's makeshift vessel but wound up getting foiled by JDM's increased fame.

I mean those scenes wiht Michael would've had so much more impact if they were with a character that we actually cared about and not just some random component of a one-off episode.

Re: Supernatural's back, baby!

^Yea that was a bad call making the half-brother a suitable vessel for Michael.I know this is mean but I hate that the kid was so busted compared to Jensen and Jared. Bad casting.

Re: Supernatural's back, baby!

I get what you guys are saying about using Adam. To be honest, I actually like him--in small doses. It would have been awesome to see Morgan come back as John, but I think using John (younger or older version) might have thrown off the brotherly vibe. Using one of the Winchester brothers as Michael's vessel added a little more weight to the argument between Michael and Lucifer. Of course it would have meant more if Dean had actually accepted Michael himself, but what can you do.

*On a side note, maybe the reason the angels couldn't use John was because they couldn't find him. It may sound like a stretch, but maybe John isn't in heaven. We know he escaped from hell, and we saw him disappear after Azazel was killed, but do we know where he went? When the boys were in heaven, Ash told them that he couldn't find either of their parents. Maybe God/Chuck set John apart for something further down the road.

Re: Supernatural's back, baby!

^Honestly I just think they couldnt afford Jeffrey Dean Morgan anymore.

I thought the finale was okay, it was 110 times better than Smallville. But Dean and Cas are good together.

Re: Supernatural's back, baby!

CW announced today that SuperNatural will move to Fridays at 9pmEDT this fall, following it's old Thursday lead-in, Smallville.

Smallville is entering its 10th and final year. SN will be in its 6th and presumably final year.

Can't say that I like the change as it could be a ratings challenge...although X-Files once flourished at 9 on Fridays.

That's a good point. And yeah I hope he comes back too. As much as Misha Collins/Castiel has been one the main reasons I've held on to this show, I was prepared for his death in the finale. It did cheapen it to see him resurrected yet again only minutes later but I'm fine with it now. I hope we see Sheriff Cas again, and Uncle Bobbeh!

Another image that struck me was the final close up on Sam. He resembled S1-2 Sam a lot. I don't know what it is but this season Jared's face seems to have gotten fatter or he's aged 10 years. He looks so different which was apparent during all the flashback scenes.

Good observation. I don't think it's a money thing with JDM. Pretty much everyone attached to the show and JDM himself have said various times that they want to bring him back but availability just isn't on his side. Maybe if the show was filmed in California we would see him more often.

Re: Supernatural's back, baby!

I really wonder what would have happened if this were the final season. Heck, I'd have preferred it. I want a Crawley show.

Re: Supernatural's back, baby!

I really liked the end especially 2 brothers trying to talk themselves out of fighting each other, I know I always nargue/debate with my brothers when we fight. Yeas at time punches etc are thrown yet fighting covers a range of things.

I'm a bit dissapointed Cas wasan't God or as my Ma suggested Bobby. But I liked the whole God in the background having faith in Dean and Sam to do the right thing.

What I didn't like was we didn't see what happened Nick after Lucifer left him. Also when Dean talked to Cas he mentioned his brother in the pity I'm sorry didn't his two brothers end up there, I would really like to see Adam get a chance at life considering a goul ate him and then Micheal took his body. Yes Dean and Sam are close and they didn't really know Adam but to ignore the fact he was in that cage too was a bit too much for me.

We all knew Sam would be back considering there is a new Season, I wonder if the new showrunners will have Bobby return however that would go against what God/Chuck said. I doubt Cas will be back he was part of Eric K's era. There is a new on about to begin so I cannot see him comming back anytime soon although I maybe wrong in the matter.

Also It was mention God created everything yet a few epsiodes prvious trhe other Gods said they were around longer and Lucifer suggested they handed the world over to the Jeduo-Christain, Jewish, Muslim Faiths, well at least the Pagan Gods did. They kind of go against each other don't you think also death reaping God are we going to get an explanation on it.

Re: Supernatural's back, baby!

I missed the premiere last night, but managed to catch it online this afternoon. I must say, that while I'm glad that my boys are back in action, last night's episode left me feeling underwhelmed. It didn't pack the punch that last season's premiere had, or better yet, season 4's premiere. IDK, I was just expecting more.

That said, is anyone not entirely convinced that Sam is Sam? I don't know why, but I can't swallow Sam being back with Grandpa Campbell and the long lost cousins in tow. It all just seemed like too much at one time. Maybe God/Chuck plucked them both from heaven and hell to carry out his plans. Maybe Satan found a way out of the eternal deep fryer, and royally punking Dean. Now if God did, in fact, save Sam from the pit, does that mean he brought Adam back as well? It wouldn't seem fair, otherwise. Though, who's to say God's interested in playing fair?

Re: Supernatural's back, baby!

When I mentioned flash and dazzle I didn't mean effects. I think there was an excess of effects, with two nightmare sequences and far too many flashbacks. I wouldn't say the characters are weak. I'd say it's very Dean-centric and if I remember you're more of a Sam person so that might add to why it didn't spark with you.
I agree with neoachilles it was too much at one time. That's why it felt so sloppy and forced. The grandpa and cousins thing was executed in a weird way. "I guess they pulled me down when they pulled Sam up" WTF? So stupid.

And I don't mind Dean centric episodes at all. You shouldnt assume. While i do prefer Sam's character and Jared's looks to Dean/Jensen's I enjoy Dean as a character. I loved the Dean episode where he had that big lipsynch dance number at the end. that was classic. Plus he was super sexy in that "Terrible Life" episode.

Re: Supernatural's back, baby!

Yeah I thought the season opener was pretty good but kinda lack luster. The whole long lost family seems kinda of wired, and grandpa didnt kill that demon they just walked her out with a bag on her head. I think this season they are probably going the vampire and werewolf route. were else can they go dean and sam have already been to heaven and hell.

Re: Supernatural's back, baby!

I liked this episode. Didnt love it. But Jensen was too cute with the babies. He's starting to overtake Jared as my favorite. Jared's hair is bad again. He needs to take his top off more and maybe he'll be back on top.

Anyways, I liked what theyve done with the story. After you beat down satan there are few places to go. The story seems to be shaping into all monsters out of control and the brothers fighting the Prime monsters. Sorta like Buffy fighting The First. I like that

Re: Supernatural's back, baby!

Well so far this season does seem kind of anti-climactic. The whole "we're back and have no clue how or why" thing, is also pretty lame, at least so far. But overall they're handling it OK and I'm not about to give up on one of my favorite shows.

Re: Supernatural's back, baby!

I agree--the boys need to be back together and fighting bad things.
