Supreme Court Petitioned to Block Mississippi Anti-LGBT Religion-Based Discrimination Law [SPLIT]

Re: TrumpCo. Dumps on LGBTQ

This is from Wikipedia
" Sodomy laws in the United States. " " In 1779, Thomas Jefferson wrote a law in Virginia which contained a punishment of castration for men who engage in sodomy.[2] Jefferson intended this to be a liberalization of the sodomy laws in Virginia at that time, which prescribed death as the maximum penalty for the crime of sodomy. It was rejected by the Virginia legislature.[3]

Prior to 1962, sodomy was a felony in every state, punished by a lengthy term of imprisonment or death." Virginia rejected Jefferson's proposal.

Re: TrumpCo. Dumps on LGBTQ

I was talking about the act. The act has always been there. The word for it isn't even as old as Canada.

Exactly. Actions speak louder than words.

Benvolio, it's HOMOSEXUALITY that gsdx is talking about, as "always" being around. You are talking about sodomy, which isn't the same thing (and which Jefferson probably thought of as guys putting their dicks up women's asses).

It is only in more modern times that sodomy laws were ONLY used to selectively arrest and prosecute gay people and male-female sodomy was generally ignored. (Was it ever called "buggery" here, or was that only a UK word?)

Re: TrumpCo. Dumps on LGBTQ

It's really too bad you don't read before you jump into a response which is completely and totally irrelevant.

I was talking about the act and the name finally given to it. Homosexual behaviour and homosexuality existed in Jefferson's time, but there was no name for it. The problem with your use of the word 'sodomy' as an argument is that people can engage in oral or anal sex without being homosexual, and there have been millions of homosexuals who have never engaged in sexual activity.

I haven't had gay sex in over 2 decades. I didn't stop being gay when I stopped having sex.

If you go back to the early part of this thread, you will see that I talked about "gay sex" and "homosexual sex", a reference to the act, and not homosexuality, the orientation. It was gsdx who started taking about homosexuality not yet being used. Even so I corrected him " not the word but the act"'

Homosexuality is legal, because just, as God created man and woman, he created homosexuals, and transgender persons. I am making a religious argument, but when God made me gay, he did not make a mistake and I rejoice. I hope all of you that are gay, bi, or transgender, will rejoice in your sexuality, and let no one put you down. I do not know if there were gay bars at the time of Christ, but I can bet you he would enjoy the love and fellowship their, rather than churches which are old, dried up, have no compassion, and are ungodly.

The biggest mistake they make is that they call it an 'abomination' against God. They would have a point, perhaps, if homosexuality were solely a human trait, but it isn't. It abounds in nature.

A perfect God does not make mistakes as you so aptly put it. Still, His only mistake is not striking down the false prophets who use His name to damn and condemn His children.

Yeah. It's almost as if a world with an imperfect god such as that one is indistinguishable from a world without a god at all.
