Yes, it does apply to you! And don't call me 'Shirley'!!

The entire intersection just south of where I live is closed in order for the city to replace a tunnel bridge beneath the intersection and over Jackson Creek where it crosses the road diagonally. It was damaged a few years ago during the flood.

There have been notices of its closure for weeks since this street is one of the main north/south corridors of the city which bypasses the downtown core.

This picture looks north. You can see the huge 'Road Closed' and 'Detour' sign and there is another one (circled in red) in the next block beyond:

This next photo looks south to the closed intersection. The creek enters the tunnel at the right corner and exits at the opposite corner to the left. Notice the fence and the warning barrels and barricades:

It's amazing how many cars go around the 'Road Closed' signs and get all the way to the barricades before they realise they can't get through and have to turn around and come right back again.

Construction will continue through to September. It will be interesting to see if people still think the road isn't closed to them a few months from now.

peeps b stoopit. ive seen them drive around barricades into flooded roads.

They repainted some road stripes in our town a couple months ago. They put up "Warning - street painting signs" and laid down cones. And some idiots still drove straight through the lines, smearing the lines and splattering paint up onto their cars.

The first idiot was me.

I'm not THAT much an idiot. I went ahead and took care of it myself. I had to sort of "snap" each piece of paint off gently with my fingernail, and it all come off the side. There's still a bit in the wheelwell, but I can live with that. And, thankfully, so can Pubert.

>>>You could have had a case if the signs hadn't indicated that the fresh paint could actually be wet and apt to splatter your car if you drove through it.

The signs said "Street Painting" (or something similar). There were cones set up. There was a painting truck pulling away - it had JUST finished. But for some reason, I didn't read the signs - I thought they were for construction that had recently happened on the same street, and thought the cones were for the same thing. I needed to turn right, so I cut through the freshly painted lines (but beyond the cones). The warnings were there, I was too much of an idiot to read them, and that's that. I have no qualms about paying the consequences of my actions. :)

They've been doing endless roadwork on the main street from my apartment to Uni for weeks now! It's horribly inconvenient whether one's walking, biking or busing into town.

Who'da thunk that government spending on infrastructure projects for economic purposes would be so damn disruptive to daily traffic!!

there is a spot close to my house that has construction going on. they are replacing a bridge. why though im not completely sure. but they started this project last may, and even though it was supposed to be a couple months, it has been well over a year and they still have that section of road completely closed. i dont even look in that direction when i drive by anymore.
